Larger Monkey Groups Lose Fights Because They Contain More Deserters

Posted December 31, 2011 10:05 AM

From Discover Mind & Brain:

In the Battle of Rorke's Drift, 150 or so British troops defended a mission station against thousands of Zulu warriors. At the Battle of Thermopylae, around 7,000 Greeks successfully held back a Persian army of hundreds of thousands for seven days. Human history has many examples of a small force defeating or holding their own against a much larger one.

An obsevation on myself:

Well, I'm really interested in this topic of ethology, so as I saw this article I wanted to read it, to my disapoinment, most of it was the video showing us the researcher Margarit Crofoot explaining us her research.

SInce english isn't my mother's language, it was really hard for me to follow her speech, too often she was speaking too fast for me, but since this lady is a very good looking woman, it compensated me, and I continued to watch much more than if she wouldn't be so nice looking-untill finally I gave up...

But there is nothing new about it!

In the ANGLO BOER war, a million highly British soldiers attacked two small Boer independent states for their gold and diamonds - total greed was the point. For three years an under fire powered Boer Commando's of only a maximum of 100,000 men kept them off and kept them back. Queen Victoria wanted to end the war due to cost and the fatality rate. The British commander was replaced by Lord Kitchener and he decided to remove the women and children from their farmsteads, burn it down, kill their live stock and transported the women and children to concentration camps, where they were starved, raped and left to die - 36,000 children and women on total. Our monuments for them still exists. Having no place to re-supply, knowing what is happening to their families, the Boer Commando's gave up. For more than 3 x years that under powered commondo's on horse back kicked ass against the highly trained, well equipped, fully trained with artillery British Army. Those 36,000 women and children could have given us the Boers a total of at least 8,000,000 Afrikaner nation instead of the 5,000,000 we are today - due to the fact that in those days families existed of up to 10 x children + / family. We still tell from son to son and daughter to daughter what the Britsh did to our nation. (although not in such nice way)

Eisenhower said in WWII:

Give me 20 x divisions Americans and I will take Hitler out;

Give me 15 x divisions British and I will take Hitler out;

BUT

Give me only 2 x divisions Boers and I will take Hitler out.

A very very good CV from an once top notch USA commander.

Also see the CV's given by the US commanders iro of the fighting soldiers that helped the USA in the Korean War in the 50's.

Hi BLC

We had our fair share of deserters too.
