What article? I saw a video and the snide one sentence comment that unfairly blamed the fast lube place.

If the Impala owner had the recall notice and ignored it, it's the owner's fault. The car owner is lucky the technicians acted quickly and calmly to extinguish the fire. In fact, if the 'explosion' had been really severe, the lube place might have had a case for a lawsuit since the owner knowingly ignored a safety notice for a potentially dangerous condition.

And it's not like the car dealer service departments don't make mistakes. About 10 years ago my dad has his car worked on at a dealership and a technician forgot to re-install a clamp on the fuel filter line. Luckily for my dad, the loose clamp was discovered during his next oil change - at a fast lube place.

Chalk this up as yet another good reason not to get your oil changed at Jiffy Lube or similar.

I don't use those places, but this statement hardly seems fair. The fire broke out no where near where the oil filter would be and the response was quick and professional. Looks like a possible gas leak near the injectors to me. Something that I doubt the pictured employees caused.

Nice catch Kramarat. Why is it that once again one of the CR4 regulars does a better job of researching a story than our anonymous Car Domain bloggers. I'll bet you that your research took between five and ten minutes. I really am not eager to to solve any problems by calling a lawyer, but I would understand the desire of Jiffy Lube to sue Car Domain for libel or slander.

Maybe they throw us these little bones to keep our minds occupied.

The research took less than 2 minutes.....................as long as it took to google, "impala engine fires".

I looked at the CarDomain site. The general feeling in the comments section under this video is the same as mine and USB's.....................utter junk.

They at least could have said. "Here's what can happen if you ignore recalls".

It's a 'trickle feed'. No time to check it out, lets just chuck it to people for discussion. I have no problem with that, but it's just news reporting. CR4 is changing, and I for one would prefer qualified and considered news updates. If they want to keep CR4 foccused, bin news stories and have one of the bloggers give a more comprehensive report. Regurgitating stuff to be found anywhere is of no use. Not quite true, but a 'what do members make of this' add-on would at least get us of to a discussion. News reporting is fine, but we all hear it from various sources. This is the 'place for discussion', so we need a starting point, not just observation on some report.

I'm willing to cut 'em a little slack. I wouldn't want the job of making sure that everything on the front page was fresh, pertintent and engaging, on a daily basis.

I think CarDomain might be able to post blogs directly to the front page without going through any filters. They're usually pretty good.

Yah, it's not always possible to make it 'fresh'. Just me spouting. I don't exactly diis what the bloggers do. I'm just human and think ' I've seen that story before'. All is cool. Easy enough to shrug off and be glad we have some more news.

I think part of us enjoys the "gotcha" moments of blogs like this one and the weak gizmodo links. I do......................I'll admit it.

Gives us a little chance to turn the tables on the moderators.

Looks like a staged prank to me. The second guy is walking around like he's gonna be nuked any second now. Why stand back that far after an oil change? He's in on it, I bet.
