Higgs Boson, You Can Run But You Can't Hide

I don't get it. If the Higgs field permeates all of space and it is what gives particles their mass, then why does there need to be a Higgs particle? Wouldn't it be as big as the universe itself?

What? you mean the smallest particle in the universe shouldn't contain all the mass?.... So you're saying the largest particle should contain all the mass, in fact it's not a particle at all, but a giant invisible blob....What is the blob made of?

I can't tell if you're joking or serious. Your reply hardly related to mine at all. I was commenting on the Higgs field. I don't know how big the particles are supposed to be, and why they think there will be any. Are you saying the Higgs boson is the smallest particle?

The remaining particle the're searching for, the Higgs boson, is supposedly the mass particle...Is it the smallest particle? Who can say, I'm not even sure if it exists as a particle, it may be a teeny tiny black hole that nothing can pass through and just exerts a negative force...It could be something totally unknown...It may not exist at all, and the standard model may be wrong...My best guess is that it is a phenomenon that we do not understand and don't comprehend, because we have no frame of reference...
