Microsoft Research Wants to Automate your House, Introduces HomeOS

Ever wondered if you could control your house's climate, security, and appliances -- along with your PCs and peripherals -- using Microsoft software? That day may soon dawn, as its Research arm has started testing its home automation software, called HomeOS, in twelve domiciles over the past few months.

Thank you, but no. We've had various runs at this idea since the 1970's and people just don't seem to want it.

Microsoft, you want to do me a home automation favor? See if you can come up with a one-switch solution using a smart HomeOS which can reliably predict which light I'm trying to turn off/on. My current system of randomly flicking the 4, 5 or 6 switches by each door until I finally hit the one I'm looking for is driving my wife bonkers.

Right off the bat it's obvious they need to change the name. I mean are you kidding me? Marketing must have been asleep on that one.

Re-Booting:- please all stand out in the yard and don't turn the power supply off whilst Micros**t upgrades your house.
