What Is It? Blog

What Is It?

What Is It? is a place for engineers to test their knowledge (and sense of humor). Each week (or month, or...) the CR4 team will post an unidentified picture of an object, tool, animal, something. We're looking for your best (or funniest) guesses at what it might be in the comments.

Yes, we take [appropriate] submissions. Send them to cr4admin@ieeeglobalspec.com.

without any reference to size,it's hard to say but, my guess is that it's one of the trolleys they used to have in department stores to send and receive containers with bill of sale and receipt of cash, or a lifting block, whats missing is the ropes and snatch block with the hook.

It's what they sent the orders back and forth on in the first Hooters. It's now in the Hooters Museum.

I believe that there is an unwritten law that says you cannot use a hay trolley UNLESS it is above 90, humidity above 90%, no breeze what-so-ever, full blaring sun, and of course, (biting) horse fly's by the million

We threw our hay into the loft with pitchforks, off a wagon pulled by horses. The rest we stacked around poles in the field. Arkansas in the summer is miserable enough if you aren't doing anything.

It was an old rusty hoist, just like the one in SolarEagle's picture of the barn
