Each of the Mercury 7 astronauts had a mold made of his backside, so engineers could build perfectly fitted seats for the spaceships. These personalized couches were supposed to help the guys withstand the incredible G-forces experienced during launch.

Since the government shut down, and only operating on essential people and departments, it good to see that the National Endowments of the Arts still has cash to give out grants for this type of art work………

Unfortunately, the national parks and museums are closed to view it.
