Guy Builds Awesome Quadcopter With Rocket Launch Platform

Posted January 29, 2014 1:51 PM

From DVICE News:

Model rocketry can be lots of fun, as can playing around with quadcopters, but after a while you'll probably be yearning for something a little more exciting. So Flite Test forum member "ukarmy04" decided to take the next logical step by mounting a platform for launching rockets on the top of a quadcopter, and sending them skyward as the 'copter hovers overhead.

Basically a really pointless exercise.......REALLY Nerdy......just to prove that it can be done maybe....saving 10 meters is hardly a big saving on height!!!

I am sure that a lot of people "get off" on such things.... For example "The Big Bang Theory" people.......They would all LOVE THIS!! At least as their characters in the series (which I like too!).

I am simply not Nerdy enough to appreciate this, sorry, my problem......

Just because it can be done, does not mean that it should be except for the experience generated from trying. Personally, I've always thought that combining an automatic guided vehicle concept with a rocket sounded like fun. Then I had a job doing just that for a living. Unfortunately, I never got to see one launch in person, but I saw plenty of films and worked with others that had been there. The stories just made me want to see it in action even more.

Of course, I'm talking about a missile with a big report at the end of the flight. Not your ordinary fireworks, but definitely impressive. Now, I just do automation and I seek satisfaction in fine tuning. But somehow, it just isn't the same!
