If you recall in Star wars no one who had a light sabres was a half wit clumsy dummy with more ego than common sense or brains like what this planet is primarily inhabited with.

I don't recall anyone who was not of Jedi or equivalent skills status having such a weapon or even being able to get one to work, and probably for good reason, which given our human population that means that maybe a few dozen people in the world could handle one.

The rest of us would be stymied by how to even turn it on if we found one.

With all the pays to maim/kill yourself with a lightsaber, it would stand to reason than anyone facing you with an energized lightsaber in hand, and still in possession of all his original limbs, is someone you do NOT want to mess with.

And that goes double (at least) for anyone wielding a double-ended lightsaber. If that fool can swing that laser meatgrinder around himself and not end up a pile of Julienne fries, then he is someone to run away from. Fast.

Lawyers take note! Here is a whole new world of opportunity for product liability lawsuits.

Not likely, Lightsabers, like firearms, are products designed to maim/kill, so how can you sue a product manufacturer for a product that does what it is intended to?

Poor product design resulting in injury to the user springs to mind.

The BATF has no authority to issue involuntary recalls on firearms, so a defective Schlock 9.2mm handgun (I'm not going to use a real gun as an example, too much liability) that is more likely to blow off the firer's hand than ut a round downrange cannot be ordered as recalled by the one agency in charge of firearms, only SemiDerrire Munitions, the maker of the Schlock, can issue a recall notice.

Why should Lightsabers be any different?

I wasn't thinking recall notice but personal legal action against light sabre manufacturer due to personal injury (that may or may not have been caused by the user actually doing something stupid and injuring themselves).

There are similar cases that have occurred already, regardless of whether or not the product is a weapon.

Oh, my mistake.

Of COURSE anyone can sue any other person (natural or artificial) for anything, including their own stupidity, this is America after all, where Superbowl tickets need to have printed on them "Not to be taken internally" just in case someone tries to eat them, chokes, and then tries to sue the NFL for issuing hazardous tickets.
