Chainsaw Powered by a V8 Car Engine

Posted July 31, 2014 9:44 AM

From Neatorama:

Whitlands Engineering is an Australian company that manufactures wood splitters, firewood processors, and awesomeness. In order to advance their dominance of the latter field, the company built a chainsaw powered by a 4.2-liter car engine extracted from a 1985 Holdren WB Ute. Sadly, the company has no intentions of mass-producing this excellent design. It's just a one-off marketing tool. That's a pity because I could really use it to--well, nothing around the house, I suppose. But if I owned something this cool, I would find a good use for it.

For those odd-jobs around the house ...

and a bit of landscaping

But for that new pool, we've got

Not a chain saw but, as Pops always said, "The right tool for the right job!"

Wow, I think you went well into the future with that one!

...but I think that's more of a buzz saw type....

For tree cutting it's hard to beat these things....

It did work better than the soon followed V8 rocking chair...

Which I think then moved on to a V8 mobilized stage....

Or the lesser known TCM Tech shop

I have a grumpy stray cat that moved into my shop recently and I have a old International fire truck with a 549 cu inch V8 so I am thinking that I may need to design some sort of V8 powered 'cat tosser'.
