By now you're probably familiar with CR4's new look following the launch of IHS Engineering360 in September. In case you missed it, read my overview here.
Another small change was rolled out today. The Engineering News blog has been retired and replaced with a feed of stories posted on IHS Engineering360. Headlines will still be provided to you, but instead of clicking to read a synopsis and then clicking again to go to the whole story, you'll be directed right to the original article.
(Note: some users may experience a mis-displayed masthead--a simple refresh (Cntrl - F5) should fix that!)
There are no plans to change the user discussion forum threads or blog areas of CR4. Those will continue to live here on CR4 and function as they do today.
Read on if you'd like a clearer explanation of what's changing with Engineering News.
Old Engineering News
In the past, CR4 admin curated stories into the Engineering News blog. Posts from this blog were displayed in the Engineering News box on the homepage and at the bottom of each edition of the Daily Digest.
Here's what it looked like on the homepage:

And here's the process it took to get to the original story if you wanted to read the whole thing:

New Engineering News
You'll still be able to access news from CR4 on most weekdays! News links will still appear in the box on the homepage and at the bottom of the Daily Digest. These links will take you directly to the stories on IHS Engineering360.
Here's what it looks like:

And here's how simple it is to get to an article:

Community Participation
I realize that the old Engineering News feed often had offbeat or unique stories and that IHS Engineering360 usually has a more serious focus. You're encouraged to share interesting (and on-topic) news with the community by creating new discussion threads about topics you'd like to share. (Please remember to respect copyright; always include a link to the source and copy no more than three paragraphs.) Many of you are already doing this, and it's great, so thank you!
