Conference room 4 is where a bunch of old guys sit around drinking coffee talking about everything under the sun, mainly engineering and science related problems that are presented by a floating array of passersby that wish to discuss a particular aspect of a puzzling dilemma or new technology that might apply....A place where people come seeking knowledge and direction...

CR4...Damn I like the reference to the old X86 machines! A lot of us started out on those "antiques." Today, to me, CR4, is not only informative with the diverse backgrounds...but amusingly entertaining!!! I do not post much, but there isn't a day I go without it.

Please note the above was Googled, prior to posting and I did not hire a consultant.

I assumed it meant 'Chat Room For' - engineering things - or as it evolved - things of interest to 'engineers'.

I am not sure what holds my personal interest, but it is difficult not to make comments to the OP if I feel my experience can help - but you're sort of hooked when comments-to-comments appear in my email box.

I spend too much time on CR4 - that's for sure.

Nice to read the history, one always wonders.

CR4 is a place to learn, and, in some cases pass on your own knowledge. There is always something that attracts my interest.

CR4 is a place I can escape to, during work hours, that allows me to avoid the idiots here for a few minutes, and have a fine conversation, albeit in writing, with someone else who is at least as intelligent as myself. Thank you for being there to allow me some relief.

When you are the only game in town, your name doesn't matter.

Nobody takes themselves too seriously here. We can have heated discussions in one thread and in another one, go to great lengths to help "that idiot" we just flamed in the other one.

The global membership has brought a new perspective to me, with language, cultural, ethnic and other differences not dealt with in a normal work day for many of us.
