Survey: CR4 Daily Digest

Posted December 14, 2015 12:00 AM

Survey time! I'd like to learn how you use the CR4 Daily Digest newsletter. If you're a subscriber, please answer the 5 questions below. They'll help us decide how we might be able to reformat the Daily Digest to best fit the needs of our readers.

1. How often do you read the Daily Digest and click over to CR4?

2. Do you have any feedback regarding how the content in the Daily Digest is organized?

3. Do you use any of the navigation links on the upper right or at the bottom? If so, which ones?

4. Is there anything you'd like to see added to the Daily Digest?

5. Do you have any other comments or suggestions related to the current format of the Daily Digest?

Please feel free to share any other thoughts or ideas you have about the Daily Digest, even if they aren't related to these questions. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

1. Read it every work day & click through when I see something that looks interesting.

2. Content is OK, it arrives in bite sized pieces & is quick to scroll through.

3. Rarely use the links, usually going somewhere specific.

4. No.

5. No.

1-Never anymore, I prefer to open a tab with cr4.globalsec.com in my browser. I can scan quickly from newest to oldest posts. When I have time to check it varies from day to day, and why read only yesterday's posts today?

2-A) How often it is updated. B) An option to check categories of interest.

3-Rarely used.

4-No

5-Many users have complained that they don't receive them anymore. They have clicked somewhere and it's gone. I use Google Chrome, usually for this. I also receive emails from IHS advertisers that I have an interest in, but move them to the Promotions tab, to keep my inbox less cluttered. CR4 Daily Digest moves there also then.

1. Just on Mondays. I used to read it every day, but then I found by going directly to CR4 I would be able to address posts in a more timely manner. I read the Fri, Sat, and Sun ones on Monday to get caught up over the weekend since I spend little time on the computer when I am at home.

2. Good as is.

3. I don't use any of the navigation links.

4. No.

1. Daily. Favorite blog.

2. It's OK. I get the feeling it could be better/easier, but do not feel qualified to suggest improvements.

3. Use the Search labels.

4. No.

5. Among the users, there may be qualified writers that could suggest improvements. I know this is lame, but the best I could manage.

1.

How often do you read the Daily Digest and click over to CR4?

>>1st thing every workday.

2.

Do you have any feedback regarding how the content in the Daily Digest is organized?

>>Not really. I rather enjoy the content.

3.

Do you use any of the navigation links on the upper right or at the bottom? If so, which ones?

>>Not really

4.

Is there anything you'd like to see added to the Daily Digest?

>>Can't think of anything.

5.

Do you have any other comments or suggestions related to the current format of the Daily Digest?

>>While posting, when you right click, why do you get a custom menu, with very few options? I never have any need of those options. However, I do use the standard right click menu (things like copy, cut and paste), often. It is slightly irritating, having to turn it off, all of the time.

1. Daily, and every dday or two, as items of interest to me appear.

2.I like it as it is. It works well for me.

3.Yes. Subscribed discussions, and mailbox.

4.No.

5.I agree that the "right-click-special options menu" when editing, is a useless pain, and the process of escaping it is frustrating.

5. I would really like anonymous to be gone and replaced with temporary guests with names. I know this has been gone over before. do you keep track of ip addresses that go with members?

Re: Survey: CR4 Daily Digest

1- Try to read the digest daily. If I don't "get a round tuit" it will sit there and wait for me. Seldom go to the main site,

2- Seems OK. I like that it tells me when there are new comments on a subscribed topic. At least one other site doesn't do this, and it is a pain with my poor memory.

3- You mean the social media ones? Never. I do only Facebook anyway, and go direct.

4- No.

5- When I reply to something, and click on return to the thread, it would be nice if it would go back to where I was in the thread--not the beginning.

PS to my #11.

Re Q5.

I would like to see the name of the poster to automatically appear alongside the # number of the post when replying.

I would like to a goto/return function when looking up the details of a previous posts.

For example: A post by 'Anonymous #146

Followed later by a reply from Horace40 i.e. #151 in reply to #146

I would like to see: #151 In reply to 'Anonymous' #146

Then with a goto #146 followed up by a 'return' to #151.

if that is possible please.

I LIKE this suggestion. And it would provide the "Return to where you were" function requested above, as well as id'ing the poster to whom I'm replying. Well done, Horace40.

1. How often do you read the Daily Digest and click over to CR4?

Nope.

4. Is there anything you'd like to see added to the Daily Digest?

Please see my answer to #2.

Dear Mr. SavvyExacta,

You have given the following to be answered/replied. My answer is as follows, just below your points in seriatim.

1. How often do you read the Daily Digest and click over to CR4?

MY ANSWER: I read CR4 daily morning as well as in the evening/night.

2. Do you have any feedback regarding how the content in the Daily Digest is organized?

My answer: The present content is alright.

3. Do you use any of the navigation links on the upper right or at the bottom? If so, which ones?

My Answer": I use all navigation links on the right side.

4. Is there anything you'd like to see added to the Daily Digest?

My Answer: An year back, I suggested to make the provision for keeping the GOOD ANSWERS of all the members. Now only 10 G.As can be seen at any point of time. Second point is some times I find difficult to incorporate a sketch. How to include the sketch is to be made known.

5. Do you have any other comments or suggestions related to the current format of the Daily Digest?.

My Answer: I will try to take from my old data and send the same.

Re: Survey: CR4 Daily Digest

1. How often do you read the Daily Digest and click over to CR4?

Ouch! Poor survey design. Two questions in one sentence.

I read the Daily Digest every day. Enjoy it. Click through to something most days, probably about 80%.

2. Do you have any feedback regarding how the content in the Daily Digest is organized?

Daily Digest is fine.

3. Do you use any of the navigation links on the upper right or at the bottom? If so, which ones?

There's links there? Nope, never use them. "Latest News" maybe but none of the others.

4. Is there anything you'd like to see added to the Daily Digest?

No, it's good. It's a digest of the latest stuff and it turns up daily. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

5. Do you have any other comments or suggestions related to the current format of the Daily Digest?

No. Other than the organisation of threads themselves on the website could do with some work. It's easy to get lost in 'asides' and hard to find your way back to where the main answers are.

Re: Survey: CR4 Daily Digest

1. Now that it is appearing in my inbox once again (mysterious disappearance and re-appearance), I check it when I check my email. If I see a story that interests me, I dive in.

2. It is organized? Is it alphabetical or chronological? I like the extra lines at the bottom after the new discussion/questions are listed.

3. I probably have used the navigation links, more on accident than intent.

4. No, I think just having the new stuff is important in its own place, and maybe a few more engineering headlines, news releases at the bottom.

5. It never really seems clear to me what part of the discussion/question header is the link to the discussion/question. Could you make the actual link a button, or even color the text with a special color, if not already doing so?
