2 hour fire rated wall enclosure and "B" lable rated doors. Room can be mechanically ventilated based on 3% of the total KW load. KW (3415) / 20 (1.08) = EXHAUST CFM.

Fire Alarm device, smoke detector installed in room above switchgear. Any wall penetrations for ducted ventilation shall have a fire damper installed.

Dear Sir,

It is better to consider the cost/sqft also during the design as real estate prices going HIGH &HIGH.

You are right .

The system in India is yet to acknowledge this factor .

The Architects , Electrical Consultants & End Users are , on an average , are not giving due weightage for this factor .

There are solutions available , even indigenously , like the D Pan of L & T Make .

I assume LA means Lightening arrestors.

It is protection provided for the transformer (more of) if it is an outdoor transformer

lightning arrestors are used to protect electrical equipments such as transformer, transmission lines,etc..from lightning stroke which causes undesirable effect in transformer operation or may cause burning effect also it can damage all appliances which are connected to it.

The minimum requirements of switchgear layout and location are well briefed. I would like to add that design factor will change depending on the voltage range of switcher vis 0.44 KV , 11KV , 33 KV ,132 KV etc.and type of transformer used ( Dry type or OFT). Hazardous area classification will have to be strictly followed in case of installations handling Explosives / chemicals
