Luxury Genes - Know Thyself For $350,000

Posted December 21, 2007 8:57 AM

From Born Rich:

What say about buying a reading of your entire DNA code to know yourself in a better way. Well, for a cool $350,000, a firm in Cambridge called Knome (pronounced "gnome") is offering whole-genome sequencing to individuals. Some other companies, including Googles 23andMe, Iceland's Decode Genetics and Navigenics of Redwood Shores, have already given consumers a glimpse of their genes for prices ranging from $985 to $2,500.

Embarrassing question of the day.

Having thrown $350,000 at the labs to obtain your entire DNa code what will it tell you and what will you do with it?

Hello Stirling Stan,

The answers are simple:

  1. Never let your Life Insurance Company know the results.
  2. Now you have found the skeletons in the family history, you will keep quiet, very quiet indeed.....

Hi Spencer: Too much money and have no objective in life. Money that could be used to lift up the fallen, teach them useful skills, find jobs so they can assist themselves. They are indeed pitiful.

Hey, smart guy Luxury genes) how about some samples of your work? Any references (which can include yourselves if you have done or should have done yourselves) for reference purposes? How about doing me for "free" as an example (can discuss) in that I have run several of the major international corporations such as Firestone, Dunlop, Uniroyal. M C Bloome to have become Goodyear, Sebring, and many more things that will blow your minds and my genetics, who knows. Do you?

There is apparently a lot that you can find out about your predispostion to many diseases, including heart disease, many cancers, like colon cancer, etc. The whole idea is to use the information to extend your healthly years.... It's MUCH HARDER to fix things AFTER THE DAMAGE IS DONE...... If I could afford it, I'd do it... FOR the super-wealthy I'd suppose this is A NO BRAINER.... If you're making a few million (or more) per year, it makes sense to extend that run as long as possible. We can't all have Rupert Murdoc's genes! He's 75-ish, STILL MAKES LONG TERM INVESTMENTS, and STILL TALKS TO HIS 100 YEAR OLD MOTHER EVERY DAY!!! I think this is something EVERYONE WILL HAVE DONE in 15 years...
