Turbine order

From The Engineer:

Vestas Italia has received an order for 27 units of its 850kW V52 wind turbine which will be deployed at the Castel di Lucio wind farm in Sicily. The contract includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a five-year service and availability agreement.

That's heartening news to read.

But sadly, it's just a drop in the necessary energy bucket.

Cost of maintenance, and noise are going to increase as the years roll by.

What needs to be used, is proper modern solar cells, with some storage method to allow for cloudy days, and of course the nights, too.

In a few short years, as more cost-effective means of obtaining energy from the Sun become available, these are going to stand on skylines, all over the world, as monuments to older energy systems.
