Robopult ($70,000) Shoots Fireballs High Up

Posted January 21, 2008 8:42 AM

From Newlaunches.com:

There are several different technologies that fall into the "catapult" category. They include the catapult, the ballista and the trebuchet. But Robopult is the most newest plus monstrous entry to this category. And this one is literally capable of flinging fireballs in the air. Priced at a dinosaurous $70,000, it is an industrial robotic arm that is converted into a computerized hurler of flaming bowling balls. This guy at Gizmodo had conversion with Aaron Rasmussen about how the heck they managed to get an industrial robot as well as bit more details of this crazy project. Apparently it was a short-term project as the robot was not for sale and was just used for time being.

You didn't miss much, this kind of thing has been done and done and done...

Watermellons and bowling balls, the worst part is when they tossed a twelve pack of beer, what a waste

"...hurler of flaming bowling balls..."

Oh, joy. JUST what I need my raucous neighbor to find out about. "Rose, get the dogs in, they're firing up another batch of bowling balls!" Sheesh... There are some things, that while technically feasable, just have NO reason for doing.
