IT Power to the People

Posted March 23, 2008 8:23 AM

The monopoly of knowledge about information technology that once belonged exclusively to the IT department has begun to crack. More and more users are taking on responsibilities that once remained in that ivory tower. The devolution of computers from tools for geeks to common commodities has dramatically altered the dynamic in a lot of companies. Even Bill Gates recognizes the transition. This analysis comes from Information Week.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Engineering Management, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Engineering Management today.

I think this is very side view.

On my side, I hvnt think that the computer tech is in ivory tower, I thnk math and communication and electronics is more complexer than it. once you have hardware knowledge you can familiar software quickly.

That article is only talking about common office software, in fact IT has more wide meanings. Math and physics play an important role in it. Most software staff only can write encode, just as same as a worker who can connct line and operat machines. The most difficult is how to set up model and resolve it.

Dont think that one can operate computer, then you think IT is vey simple.

haha.

Today, even a child can drive a car, do you think produce a car is very simple?

Once in my studio, recordists looked down upon others they think them very important. but they always respect engineer, they know if there is no engineer help them with console and processing, they cannt record wonderful music.

in the same way, if IT hasnt wrote good plateform, the officer cannt set up therself program.
