Bus driver chooses GPS over gigantic warning sign, plows into overpass

In Britain the bus drivers have special training to crash into bridges:-

This GPS's are quite persistent of sending one on the "wrong" road. I must admit actually the best road if it wasn't for a multi car pileup.

In defence of the drivers, it is very human to forget about the height above you.0

In ±1966 during a drought I was erecting a emergency pumping unit and ordered 2 lengths of 24" steel pump and had to go and fetch it myself 700k away with a 7 ton tipper.

The supplier in its wisdom decided that a flange joint on the suction side was a no no and supplied it in one length.

The pipe end was about 12' x" up in the air. But I was cautious and and passed all bridges successfully. (Note after a resurface the clearance is less than the stated clearance on the bridge)

After 100k I was in open country and no bridges to worry about.

Passing through a small town at 200k I saw a road house and decided that eating a hamburger would be nice and turned into the area completely forgetting about the pipe. close escape - I missed the overhead eclectic wires by about an inch.

Yes, that could have been a "shocking" experience.

Funny what can happen sometimes.

I used to live next to a double railway line in the Netherlands. One day a tipper lorry similar to the one above drove off from a building site whilst lowering his bucket. He forgot that it took the bucket some time to fully lower so when he crossed the railway his bucket grabbed the overhead lines and yanked the lorry on its side.

The driver could be seen standing on the glass window of his door too afraid to touch anything as he could feel the tingling of the electricity from the lines. Makes for a good afternoon when you are a 12 year old boy

It's not just bridges, this guy had to turn off the road, into ther river!
