NASA Phoenix Mission Ready For Mars Landing

Posted May 14, 2008 8:41 AM

From Slashdot:

Several readers relayed the press release from JPL about the upcoming landing of NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander on May 25. It's going to set down in the north polar regions and look for indications of whether conditions have even been favorable for microbial life. "Phoenix will enter the top of the Martian atmosphere at almost 21,000 kilometers per hour... In seven minutes, the spacecraft must complete a challenging sequence of events to slow to about 8 kilometers per hour... before its three legs reach the ground. Confirmation of the landing could come as early as 7:53 p.m. EDT. 'This is not a trip to grandma's house. Putting a spacecraft safely on Mars is hard and risky,' said Ed Weiler, associate administrator for NASA's Science Mission Directorate. 'Internationally, fewer than half the attempts have succeeded.'

But are the NASA scientists going to be allowed to tell the truth, this time?

That's what I and others would like to know.

Kind Regards....

Sparkstation, If you do not mind, "tell the truth this time?" Please elaborate on this.

Sparkstation, Thank you for the information, but all the links take me to the same article. I would like, if you please, a little more diversity in the information.

Thank you again. Dragon

Sparkstation, Intriguing. It is very likely that NASA has been doctoring the information the it releases to the public, perhaps for years. There are photographs of the far side of the moon released to the public that have been obviously retouched. There was even the infamous video of Apollo 15's landing site that shows a large dome like structure in the background.

I think that if there were full disclosure of all NASA information and films there would be a near revolution.

Retouched Apollo photographs?

How naive! Don't you know that all of the Moon landings were faked?

Some experts even think all of the Mars probes were faked too. Really looks like NASA has made a deal with the grey aliens, agreeing to keep their Moon, Mars, and Europa colonies secret.

Svengali, When the "Grey's" show up in my front lawn I will believe in the Government's ability to fake anything convincingly. You see I spent 3+ years in a rather secretive branch of the military and the idiots in charge now couldn't keep a secret from a dead horse.

So if they can't keep a secret, then that means the Moon and Mars photographs were not faked nor altered?

Svengali, Touche' I wrote that having been awake for thirty-six hours. The secret I was referring to is about the UFO's. There is compelling evidence (not conclusive) that much of the sightings are faked or mis-interpreted.

But again Touche'.

Re: NASA Phoenix Mission Ready For Mars Landing

Hello again Dragonsfarm

One of these refers to the NASA picture Reference Number E1900409 in full NASA definition file size of 2.12MB which may be located on NASA official webpages, (using that Reference Number E1900409) with some difficulty, because they have made Search Navigation on their Photo Archive pages not so easy for the casual researcher.

Save the above picture (or the original from NASA Mars Photo Archive) to your Computer, and expand the picture, using a good graphics program, Irfanview is OK and free if you need one, to see inter-weaved tubes some 4 metres diameter, with circumferential marks which look like the markings on earthworms.

On earth we would see those circumferential markings on large hollow tubes, as support ribs or corrugations, perhaps in pipes supplying air or non-flammable gas.

There are further anomalies on other NASA Mars Archive pages, in particular one anomaly which looks like a rectangular power station building, built on a shelf cut out part-way down a cliff, (or in front of a dam, with cascading water from a large pipe approximately 5 metres diameter above and to the right of the building, but I cannot locate the NASA Reference Number for that Archive file at present. Should I locate the picture, I shall place it in a Post here.

Kind Regards....

Re: NASA Phoenix Mission Ready For Mars Landing

Sparkstation, Thank you for the information. The photographs are compelling, and the resemblance to human urban sprawl is a bit too close.

Sort of looks like a small rural town in the western United States viewed from orbit that has been photo matrix-ed and blurred does it not?

But if you listen to the "experts" and the official word from NASA, the "apparent lines are caused by weathering." Weathering? According to my sources in the USGS that type of "weathering" could only be caused by standing water evaporating and leaving behind mineral deposits like on cave ceilings. Standing water? In the open? On Mars? According to NASA, Mars' atmosphere is so thin water would vacuum boil long before it evaporated and left mineral deposits in any sort of pattern like those.

So in conclusion of my train of thought: Either NASA has lied about the density of the atmosphere or the volume of free water or the cause of the "weathered" appearance of the landscape. Any competent astronomer with a telescope and spectroscope can ascertain the percentage of water vapor and the density of the atmosphere, so where does that leave the "weathering" concept?

Just my opinion Dragon

The scientific consensus (including the opinions of just about all ""experts"") now seems to be that Mars did have standing liquid water on its surface -- millions of years ago when it had a denser atmosphere. The gullies formed by apparent water erosion, along with the chemical composition of some Martian minerals (including the "blueberries" recently discovered by the rovers) make a strong case. Even in the recent years, photographic evidence indicates that liquid water occasionally still flows on the surface (for a limited time before evaporating or soaking underground). The idea of liquid water on Mars no longer sounds extraordinary, especially since the Phoenix probe has already photographed water ice. Looks like Mars has millions of tons of water frozen just below the surface at its northern latitudes.

The smooth material is thought to be Martian water ice.

Mars has lots of water. Why did the censors let this one slip by?

Looks like one of the photographs slipped past the censors! Now we know for sure that NASA and the US gov have been lying about the existence of intelligent life on Mars. Just look at that footprint, even shows toes!!!!
