Will Apple Really Go Solar?

A patent application recently filed by the company that brought us all the innovative "ifamily" of products suggests that it may be pursuing technology to develop solar-powered iPhones and iPods. Such a move could soon see the iPhone and iPod as truly portable and eco-friendly consumer devices. Would you buy a solar-powered iPod or iPhone?

I would not buy an Iphone even if it was free, service was free, and all power sources were free.

But is it worth the cost to the company? No more (or at least fewer) battery replacement sales, chargers, etc.

Well it is simple being an electronic engineer I can tell you 2 things about connectors 1) There is a saying "the only person that makes money in the electronics parts is the connector guy. ie connectors are damn expensive 2)Space,connectors are space intensive and clumsy for packaging(the case)

Well, maybe not at night as we are talking about solar power, but I digress.
