My dad decided to cut back on things at his upstate New York Contracting
firm. Only gas used for driving to and from a specific jobsite is reimbursed, no
more marketing or advertising, no more raises, bonuses, or overtime. He's also
put a moratorium on employee training seminars. I can't understand how cutting
back on employee training results in significant cost savings. I see it as a
dangerous short term maneuver that will cost precious opportunity in the future.
Has your HVAC contracting or design firm cut back to save money? If so, where
have you cut? Have you trimmed essential training and education programs? How
will your firm's long term effectiveness be affected?
