Micro-Fuel Cells to Replace Batteries?

University research focused on the development of micro-sized direct methanol fuel cells (microDMFC) achieved improved fuel efficiency while also maintaining good power density. Will micro-fuel cell devices provide an alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries? Could they enable the development of more advanced mobile electronics?

With proper cataylst and conditioning of methanol is possible to produce microD
