Where Do You Shop Online for Car Parts?

Posted March 10, 2009 4:21 PM by CarDomain

For regular old OEM replacement parts, I'm pretty obsessed with RockAuto. I dig their super-navigable online catalog, the prices are close to wholesale, and for most items you can choose from a variety of brands – which works great for me since I like to avoid the service-grade Made-in-China suspension wear parts and electronics that try to set your car on fire.

How about you? What are your favorite car parts web sites?

Rock Auto is great because you can choose from both OEM and aftermarket sources. Within the aftermarket, there can be dozens of suppliers to choose from. I avoid the local car parts retailers like Advanced Auto and C.A.P. because they sell junk.

For used parts, car-part.com is a great place to search your local auto recycling centers. For drivers like me who plan to use their car for 250k + miles, it's a good place to check prices on critical components on a particular model before you buy.

I have been using JC Whitney since I was 13 years old and bought my first car. A 1963 Ford Anglia (for $50 USD), with a cracked rod bearing. Between me, the machine shop, and JC Whitney, it turned into a good first vehicle.

But I just checked out RockAuto, and it's cheaper & has a bigger selection. Thanks. I think.
