Transparent public restroom not for those with performance anxiety

Posted May 28, 2009 12:27 PM

From Engadget:

As if you didn't have enough to do in the water closet, visitors to this restroom in Lausanne, Switzerland, have one added step: they must actually press the "voir" button to get a little privacy in this otherwise transparent structure. The walls are constructed with liquid crystal glass that becomes see through under electric tension -- which can be triggered via motion sensor, in case all motion ceases for a period of time (napping is not allowed) or if there is too much activity (partying is definitely not allowed). What do you think: Is this a stylish and innovative alternative to the ugly plastic porta-john? Or a disaster waiting to happen? (Click Read Full Story For Video)

You would be stunned at what people will do in a stinky public toilet. Both accidentally and intentionally. The Internet contains within its lower depths a vast repository of the intimate details.

What? I was searching for something else and stumbled across it. No, really.

"No resting in the restroom!"

"No bathing in the bathroom!"

It would be logical to polarizers in such way that when the power is of that it would be dark, but i agree someone who designed a see through toilet in the first place may not thought about that

I would rather redesign the toilet instead of the room you keep it in. I work at a university. The 2 things I miss most about summer are good parking and dry toilet seats. I hope parking is always a problem during the school year. Otherwise I will looking for a new job. But the toilet seats are a bit of a sore spot. I guess there are too many hormones in the food supply resulting in one or more of the following: poor vision, reduced hand/eye coordination, severe shrinkage of the reproductive organs, and / or reduction in the part of the brain affecting common courtesy. My solution is negative reinforcement. If some moron pees on the seat then the toilet will return fire with a high volume water jet. I call it the "Piss Back". Sort of a play on the name for the baseball training aid "Pitch Back". A pressure mat on the floor determines if you are standing or sitting as well as if you are using crutches. I would not want a miss fire if someone is handicapped. A simple "if - then" program uses that information along with a moisture sensor on the seat. If standing w/out crutches and the seat gets wet, then you get wet. Poor mans patent applied for and received.

Never tried it myself. I know people that have and they did not recommend trying it. Have you tried this? Grab the hand of the person next to you and then grab the fence. You stand there laughing and they get the crud shocked out of them. Or, so I have been told .
