Welcome to the real world of doing research. You have found documentation about polymers. Now you have to research the meaning of the word "shaft" and see how it applies to concept of a shaft made of a polymer.

This is obviously yet another homework question.

Do your own homework. CR4 is not a homework cheat site; however, if you have questions about understanding concepts or how a portion of a problem is derived, these types of questions will be accepted.

This is what predictably happens when you ask to be given the shaft.

It would be a shaft made of polymers.

It might be different ones for different applications.

An internet search for "polymer shafts" is recommended.

Or more information has to be given to evaluate the application and usefulness of polymer as a shaft material.

OK. What sort of information do you want, then?

Mine shaft, or tunnel shaft? Mechanical rotating shafts, or oscillating shafts? Shafts of light? Polymer light shafts? Drinking straw shafts? Shafts tied in knots? If so, what kind of knots? Inorganic polymer or organic (green) polymer?

Shafts of polymer woven into something (useful) to sit upon?

Shafts of polymer extruded from a machine into rods? And then cut into tiny bits of plastic to send around and extrude again? Not very efficient, that.

Please do elaborate.

I see you also posted to another engineering forum

Here is my answer:

  • A polymer shaft is a shaft made from polymer!
  • Any more questions?

Why don't you post an actual question that is asking for specific answers regarding the:

  • Chemical makeup?
  • Strength?
  • Min/Max sizes?
  • Machinability?
  • Where to purchase it?
  • What are you using it for?
  • Is this a HOMEWORK question?
  • I guess I gave you "any" information?
  • Maybe not?
