If you have accumulator in lube oil circuit, check the Nitrogen pressure. look for the right pressure for the manual, if not available, charge 0.6 times the lube oil system pressure.

1. On-site engineer.

2. Operator's manual.

3. Turbine maker's web site.

4. Turbine maker's tech line.

5. Local tech service.

6. On-line manual download.

"2.5MW back pressure turbine" is not much to work with.

I suggest you get competent help.

Simple. Pick up the telephone and talk to the turbine manufacturer directly.

Good luck.

Dear Mr.YashKumar,

Your information is insufficient. You could have provided a sketch indicating the arrangement.

Please clarify the following to suggest remedy.

1) 1.Whether it is one pump set and two coolers in parallel, or is it 2 pump set with 2 coolers in standby mode with non-return valve at the delivery of the pump.

2) If there are 2 pumps, whether 2nd cooler is opened after starting the 2nd pump. Then again re-circulation with in the pump system takes place and the pressure will fall.

3) If 2 pumps are installed whether the pump impeller is same dimension. If not the difference in pressure developed by impeller will re-circulate and nett flow of oil will be less, which results in drop in pressure.

The reason being, the pressure developed will vary as (V12 - V22)/2g

where V1 is the Velocity at the impeller tip,

V2 is the velocity at the eye of impeller

and 'g' is the acceleration due to gravity which is 9.81M/Sec2.

If the Dia is slightly more for one impeller, then V1 will be more for this impeller, which is given by π.D1.N/60

The prima-facie of your problem indicates short circuit of oil flow which reduces the oil pressure. Chances of valve leakage is high and please check the same.

Please inform this forum how the problem was solved.
