Private E-mail Addresses

04/19/2015 8:03 PM

To CR4 site---Can you advise if it is allowable /advisable/permitted on the CR4 site to mention a private email address. Sending specific material to email may reduce the volume of material being posted and direct it to the person concerned only?

Pls advise.

Regards wick ( Surabaya, Indonesia)

The private message system here works quite well. No one should publish their email addresses, and there is no reason to do so.

  1. What are the rules and responsibilities of a CR4 member?

Do not post phone numbers or email addresses.

Spam bots look for the "at" character, and begin their onslaught immediately, quickly rendering the address unusable. That is why posting email addresses runs contrary to the forum rules, for the "at" does not need to infer liability for not being able to use the address any more from the operators of the site.

There is no need, ever, to post email addresses in posts. Sharing them can be done using the site's internal messaging system.
