A honkin' big subwoofer. When you hear it go "WOOF" you'll know what I mean.

It operates on a new, different, and proprietary principle. Even Lyn-Door IndustriesTM doesn't know the secret.

The engines on the Atlas booster used to send Gemini missions into orbit.

Reminded me of this... GrandDad's rocket powered bug. Our whole teen years were spent building cars, hot rods, boats and motors. Not to be outdone and to provide some inspiration to us all, our next door neighbor's Grandfather put a JATO Rocket on the back of a VW Beatle. He bought the rocket at a military surplus store and wanted to set a speed record. He made a strong mount system that was angled down in the front so, in theory, would help to hold the bug on the ground during operation. The day came; cars, trailers, and Beatle with the whole gang of guys went out to the desert where the road was very straight and long. So...ready!! Here came Gramps in the Bug going West at about 70 MPH under piston power. Just after he passed us he hit the ignition button... There was smoke, flashes and flames and, and , and...he disappeared. But, WTF, here came Gramps, doing about 150 to 200, heading East, up-side down, riding on the roof shooting down the storm channel on the side of the road. Flames, dust, sparks and terror. But GrandPa survived!

Never anything more interesting and in slow motion than a rocket-powered ride out of control (which really is anything rocket-powered really under control ever?) One of my buddies wants to strap a re-conditioned re-fueled RATO unit to his GO-Kart. I get that will be a ton of laughs (if he survives it). The sad part is I have been consulting with him about the fuel pellet (he wants to go hybrid). After watching Myth-Busters, I am not going to recommend (1) freeze dried powdered doggie poo, (2) gummy bears, or (3) dehydrated gummy bear sugar powder. I am pretty sure we want to use a high melting wax or LMWPE as the pellet. Good luck with keeping a consistent delivery of fuel into the oxygen stream on that. I suspect we need some form of vibratory mechanism to create vortices to shed off the boundary layer of the melting wax/plastic.

Onward!
