Disney Should Clean Up the Mess They Have Left Behind!!! Yes or No?

03/25/2016 4:18 AM

Recent blog from CR4 shows just how bad Disney is as a company.....Thanks for the alert Guys!

Disney-World-park-Scrap-Yards

I have been to some of their parks, but never, ever again if that is the way they treat the environment of this (one and only!) world!!!

Disney (as a company!) is dead for me.......

Walt must be turning in his grave.......

Re: Disney should clean up the mess thy have left Behind!!! Yes or No?

I am no fan of Disney. I lived in FL for a number of years and visited their theme parks a few times. Anymore, I can't stand to get anywhere near Orlando. I have no idea why anyone would want to live and work there. It's the 8th circle of hell, but with toll roads.

I am particularly angry at the way they've treated their tech workers. To me this is the biggest reason to hate the Disney corporation. disney-colluded-to-replace-us-workers-with-immigrants

But - I think the article "Disney World Park Scrap Yards" linked above is mostly BS. Read the comments at the end of the article and you'll notice a number of people who corrected false impressions that the article presented. The land is Disney's land, and most of the material left behind is non-toxic building materials. It'll be Disney's problem to clean up, once they decide they need the land for something else.

Also, view the satellite image of Discovery Island and Bay Lake on google maps. What you see is normal growth in the semi-tropical jungle that the park is carved from. You do not see any huge areas of abandoned 'junk yards'. (The only 'junky' looking area is a parking lot for truck trailers and employee cars.) The abandoned pieces of the park - if they are there - are tiny. I suspect the photos were made from selected angles to show the worst possible images.

Also no a Disney fan for several other reasons, but abandoned theme parks are nothing new. It appears more economical for corporate park owners the shutter and abandon than to fix or move rides.

They're undoubedtly an eyesore, but there is little that can be done.

This is a bogus attack on Disney by some mislead wanna be journalist...these deaths caused by this killer amoeba are rare and seem to be naturally occurring...You want to see a mess that needs to be cleaned up, look at Detroit...or better yet look in your own backyard...

...."133 cases have been documented, according to the CDC. Most of those cases happened in Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Arizona and California."..."Naegleria fowleri is a single-celled organism that can cause a brain infection called primary amebic meningoencephalitis, or PAM, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. It's typically found in warm fresh water such as lakes, rivers and hot springs."

These disease-causing organisms are naturally present in most lakes, ponds, and rivers but multiply rapidly in very warm and stagnant water," the Oklahoma State Department of Health said."...

Oh, the horrors.

Oh, puleeze. It's their property and it looks a WHOLE lot better than a lot of other properties I have seen in the deep South. They have let nature take over. What's better than that????

From the hyperbole, you would have thought they were running Love Canal v 2.0.

Can't see anything toxic - or any indications that the amoeba were related to Disneys occupation?

My beef with Disney relates to 'something else' Bill Clinton did - apparently, at Disneys' request, he extended copyright BY 25 years.

Yet inventors are not even given a remote looksee into the patent system.

I don't live in Florida as most here know, but why does anything need to be "toxic" before it to needs to be cleaned up? Would you follow this advice in your home and garden?

Then surely papers and similar can simply be thrown out of car windows and dot the landscape, most papers simply return to nature over less that 12 months outside without being toxic!!

Lets throw all our sawdust (unpainted or not treated wood), everywhere.

I am sure there are plenty of other liquids and solids that will not damage the environment, but just make it look bad.....

A big company like they ar could make these areas look really "natural" again if they wished and earn kudos for doing it!!

If the property belongs to them and there is nothing dangerous there, or leaking/leaching/flowing from it, and it looks OK from outside the property boundary then it's probably not in violation of any local codes.

I work closely with the municipal code enforcement organization in my fair city. Those are the general guidelines they use.

Florida is a really great state, there are many of them in the USA, many of which I have been lucky enough to visit.

As a visitor, I personally don't want to see such piles of junk even if local laws allow it...

Thankfully, our laws would not!!

We have different opinions....

As a visitor, "if it looks OK from outside the property boundary", you wouldn't, "see such piles of junk".

That was my point. If it is an eyesore, it must be remediated.

I have no idea what the local codes are in Florida.

Thanks for your reply.

I think that we both agree they have enough money to return it to nature if there is no other requirements.....

And we both agree that they should do that.

One has to look no further than the oil (fracking) and mining (strip mining) industries in the U. S. A. to see that big business, through political contributions and lobbyists, writes the environmental laws here.
