Microscopic view of some kind of crystallized metal maybe from chip or semiconductor manufacturing.

It appears to be a cross-sectional view of an RO membrane, a polyamide thin-film composite one, with the 0.25 μm permeation layer at the top, the cross-section showing the membrane support layer that is highly porous to transport water to the permeate envelope.

Nice hint. So it's a rose petal, huh? No orderly structure, so I assume it is actually the aerogel.

Aerogel was discovered in the 1930's but has never really been of much use due to cost and how delicate it is. several scientists for years have been trying to expand on the initial discovery and lower the cost and usability. the yellow material I posted is a polymer aerogel with the same insulating resistance to heat flow as 25mm of foam insulation while still being playable

Right. If your typo makes a real word, spell check remains happy. It doesn't like proper names. This means: in addition to spell check, you have to read your stuff to check for the meaning you wanted and things like to/too, in/on, etc, etc . . . .

Some people on here apparently don't believe in spell check nor reading!

Where can I get some of this polymer aerogel? I am setting up calorimetry on my fusion reactor, and I need to not miss even one 0.1 BTU, J, or calorie. (not converting units, obviously).
