On balance, that's probably the wrong move. But not certainly, so we'll have to see how it pans out.

Re: Brexit looks to pass

All bad....

"SEOUL, South Korea — World financial markets were rocked Friday by Britain's unprecedented vote to leave the European Union, with stock markets and oil prices crashing and the pound hitting its lowest level in three decades.

The uncharted, unexpected path of a European Union without Britain sparked the sell-offs, with more jitters expected as global markets try to digest the shock result.

Tokyo stocks plummeted about 8 percent, their biggest fall since 2008, while South Korea's Kospi tumbled about 3 percent. Britain's FTSE 100 futures tanked 8.3 percent.

Crude oil prices and U.S. futures also took a big hit. The British pound plummeted more than 10 percent in six hours while the yen surged about 3 percent to the U.S. dollar as investors seeking safety snapped up the Japanese currency.

By early afternoon in Asia, a tally by the BBC showed Britain had voted to leave the 28-nation European Union by about a 52 percent to 48 percent margin.

Japan's Nikkei 225 plunged 8.3 percent to 14,897.32 while South Korea's Kospi sank 3.4 percent to 1,918.70. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index tumbled 4.8 percent to 19,866.20 and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 3.4 percent to 5,012.20. Stocks in Shanghai, Taiwan, Sydney and Southeast Asian countries were sharply lower."...

I'm not surprised, but the long-term consequences might not conform to the short-term ones.

I agree.

The stated market reactions is mostly based on uncertainty and greed.

Uncertainty because of panic of now what?

and

Greed because a few gambled and sold short on the possibility of Brexit.

imo, The long term effect may work out pretty good for the UK. They it seems they were quite independent of the EU

It's time to buy if you have money for long term investment.

Personally, I think this was a dumb move.

I'd be interested to learn how our British members feel.

I agree, and you have the same line of thinking of the presidential candidate you mocked earlier. Or is that a one way street your on because its a British way of Tending your own business when it comes to the Brits, but others are open game for the Brits that I wasn't aware of.

Your current president was threatening dire consequences if we leave, once the results were known “the special relationship will remain”.

The proof in the pudding will come when the other stronger EU economies start to leave. At least we don’t have to untangle ourselves from the Euro.

As for your possible future president and our possible future prime minister, they are both barking mad.

Re: Brexit Looks to Pass

I laughed at our president when I heard that, imo his remark is nothing but shows what a pompous xxx he is.

And I don't think our current presidents remarks, red lines he draws or anything else that comes out is taken serious by our allies, or anyone else including in the states.

as far as our future... No they are diffidently not movies stars or refined for that matter. But then again, a refined politician seems to be nothing more then a prevaricator.

im just surprised that our liberal contingency here doesn't jump on the anti conservative memes like they do on the anti liberal saying it doesn't belong here. Well,..Not really that surprise, it's expected

I Don't know how it is in the UK, here I just wonder if what we have now is just a result that came to be from what we currently have and had in the past. With an example of his comment if BREXIT happens.

Careful what you wish for.

A psychopathic, misogynistic, bigoted, racist with delusions of grandeur is certainly not what we need as a leader.

All the world sees him as Hitler reincarnated, and an extreme danger.

There’s been riots in some places. It’s only the financially weak countries that want the EU in its present form.

In 1975 I voted to remain in the “common market”, I believed at the time it was the right way to go. I didn’t vote for the united states of europe which it has become.

If you want to look at it as the US of Europe that way that's fine. Hopefully you don't go through a civil war like the US, that would be devastating.

As far as Americans minding their own business, deep down, you know that's not going to happen.

A Canadian journalist Gordon Sinclair wrote an article about "The Americans" I found a video of it. You should watch it to understand my/our reasoning.

The video sounds more propagandist but the written article less so, it may be slightly outdated but both still ring true. Google the written article instead if you can't stomach the video. I'll understand.

But enough about 'The Americans', we're more concerned about you.

years agoI used to chat online with people from the Scandia countries. most were great chatters, one day some clown started in on me and America. soon many of the others were packing up my heckler. I kept my cool and then one of the regulars there asked me to respond to the BS. all I said was, "if it wasn't for America you'd all be German speakers. they got the point

Friend of mine was stationed in Germany in the 8o's. He was a chopper pilot and he told me, if you were in the military, you'd want to stay away from the cities. They hated you, but the smaller towns and villages were different.

They still welcomed you. Fact is, the locals loved getting them drunk.

as far as WWII, if you really investigated, the United States was fortunate to be more inaccessible.

but this post is about BREXIT. And not about this as some people likes to take a stab.

I'm not British, but as an outsider, I've felt that the UK wasn't fully all in. I don't know if it was just a perception, or that they were an island, or that they kept the British pound predominant.

it interesting looking at the map on how the voting went throughout the UK.
