You'd still be riding Kangaroos if it wasn't for American muscle!

And you'd still be walking like a cowboy, if it wasn't for German muscle. ;-)

Better at what?

Since this is posted in the mechanical Engineering section are we to assume based purely on mechanical construction and reliability in general?

Thanks for posting clarifying car pictures, the discussion could have got quite awkward quite fast without them.

On the grounds that 1.22 medals per million population is far better than 0.38 mpmp, I'd say that Australia have it

In is globally-interconnected and inter-dependent world, nationality is not as important as it used to be.

Where were the tyres made - Korea (rhetorical question - NNTR)?

You keep on playing "poke the bear", by asking ill-defined questions, then sitting back hoping some people will get in an argument about the answer.

Go Away.

What Australian muscle (cars) are there? Holden is the only name I could find with a brief Google search and they are owned by General Motors at this time. I even found a short editorial article from last year that warns about the possible near extinction of Australian made automobiles from any corporation.

The Aussie Chrysler Charger "HEMI" slant-6 was light-years ahead of its Detroit cousin!

The Aussie vehicles have been showing up the American ones for years ( and that on smaller budgets) so now the American masters have pulled the pin and killed off the Aussie manufacture totally so now we have to either put up with oversized under performing tanks or go European ..... I rekon that European is the go!

Yes, but does the carburetor bowl swirl clockwise or counterclockwise?

Also, is it LEEDS rated?

I disagree. They drive on the right side of the road, but it's down under.

This Oz muscle ;- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyland_P76 (see the Force 7 ) was never roaded. The standard production car was entered in the London to Sydney rally and is reputed to be the only car that survived intact. The biggest cause for low sales was the unpopular look. The car magazine "wheels" conducted a competition for amateur designers to improve the looks whilst keeping the same shape. Some were really good. Coulda, shoulda. Jim
