Titles for participants

08/09/2007 3:16 AM

Dear Team of CR4

Love to spend time with you guys. It beats a broad spread by a country mile. I wonder who comes up with the titles of participants. Like Guru and Member or commentator, like my self (My friends in Italy would love it).

Now that you have changed a few things and all becomes more regulated (no regrets)who gives out the titles? If it is some punitive decision created by a computer program I would respectfully ask to be called "what ever" but not late for lunch. If I had a choice it would be Matador. My Spanish friends would like that. Hof Brau Meister for the beer drinkers which will desturb relatives. I'll role with the punches. Keep it up. Good Luck. Ky.

Your title depends on the number of posts you've made. Take time to read the FAQ. It's on the right side bar under Site Indices. You're particularly interested in No. 25.

It doesn't -- It's just part of the fun.

Right, you can type in a non-sense post and get a point. You can give a really nice post and still get a point.

If you've retired and have not much else to do, you can see your numbers go up real fast. If you're working and just visit irregularly, you can take a long time to get up to Guru.

I've noticed that there is a rate button at the bottom of each post. I wonder if that can be used to give a little more meaning to the title.

It would be a good idea to use the Rate button to accumulate points for the various levels. I also go to www.eng-tips.com and they have a system that recognizes the most valuable person for the week. It is also a very good and inclusive forum.

Yeah, we've thought about adding what is known as a "reputation system", and we're going to watch how the comment rating systems works out before venturing there.

Thanks,
- Mark
