Are you looking for low cost or fancy looking 1U casing. Some of these I use for packing electronics you can also use. These are in the range of $100 each.

Try a heat sink manufacturer.

Use what Alu.Channel you get at Home Depot like shops. You can buy 1'.

Just mount fins vertical. If possible close the open side of channel with Alu (mayby anything) foil.

Let hot air Chimney out bottom to top open end of Channel.

But, don't limit yourself. There are a number of mfr's of EIA rack enclosures that offer basic incorporated chassis, where you can add the necessary heat sink(s) that may be appropriate for the requirement. Further, obtain just the panel, add the chassis that suits the application, and add the heatsinking.

In designing, I try to think inventively and with flexibility in mind.

Marlin P. Jones suggested earlier, does have a lot of stuff that may suit something we are doing today, but keep in mind that they are generally surplus items. If what you is for manufacturing, what they might have today may not be found next year for any ongoing production. For a one-time thing, this kind of thing is fine. Good hunting!

Thank you all, for the suggestions, and I apologise for not replying sooner as I was away over the weekend. As I reread my request over, I am astonished by the fact that I very was not clear....What I should have said is this.

The power supply in identical to a 1U sized power supply with active cooling on each end via a Push / Pull Fan.....6 volts Dc in, inverted to 12 volts DC out @ 200 watts, with various Taps for Neg. and Pos. voltages.......(the same type of unit we manufacture for 24, and 48 volt applications in the Tel-Com world.... The installation is into Working HEAVY DUTY Highway maintenance Trucks......The output controls the position of laser scanners of the roadway surface....It is a stand alone PS, not installed into a mother chassis..Hence the reason I need to find a small Finned Aluminum Chassis to cool the innards. Hope that helps.......Peter

Hi

I generally use top and bottom ventilation in 1U. However the chassis I use have from and back plate removable. You can have special thin fan and duct fitted there. Perhaps your local fabricator can do the CNC work for you. They do for us for small extra money. They can also fit those handles and telescopic sliding arrangement. These are standard 19" rack modules so have proper holes in sides to fit into racks.

I am user of these things.
