Oak Island

Yes or no?

Will anything actually be remarkable?

Nincompoop! It's a wonder they didn't fire you on the spot! You mix space glue with space intention, all other glue is inferior.

Wouldn't it be funny if they showed up at your car park one day and you had them towed.

With 5 parking garages and over 9,000 parking spaces to patrol they would never be noticed.

After all, they had a job to do and I should have just kept my mouth shut. But being truthful has never stifled my career path.

Besides, much to tcmtech's disappointment I'm sure, I have "people" that do the enforcement.

It takes a lot of hamburger meat, buns, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and special sauce to keep all those military contractors in Big Macs.

It will add to the general welfare of the nation, while promoting the defense, and securing our borders.

So take your sour grapes and make some whine out of them.

After just watching over two hours of the rich boys spend money I do not believe that anything found will be remarkable.

They bought four pieces of equipment that cost close to a quarter million dollars like it was a pair of shoes.

While it was mildly interesting for one sitting, it's too much like an old time serial I watched as a kid. "Tune in next week to see the boys dig another hole in the swamp".

How long has this already run?

Google sez four seasons (thus far). Star Trek (TOS) ran for three. Think it'll (cough) have the same positive cultural and scientific/engineering impact as did STOS?

Sounds to me like it's time to flush the bog.

thanks for giving it a try and an answer.

I guess it depends on each persons definition of remarkable.

I think clear evidence precolonial work or better yet an artifact.. would qualify as rather remarkable and warrant further searching..If I have to put up with a few cheesy show bumpers to "find out what next!" ...so be it. I can distract myself for the duration.

You're welcome.

I have to wonder who is financing the dig.

That excavator costs 1/4 million $ or more new by itself.

Given the fact that they all seem to live somewhere and can drive to the site makes the conditions much nicer than living in a tent in the middle of nowhere.

Still someone's putting millions of dollars into the effort, so they must think there's treasure there.

Bingo!

$1.3 mil.

History Channel's Curse of Oak Island gets film funding for Season 4 ...

The brothers weren’t planning on a TV career but were approached by Prometheus Entertainment with an idea for the show. A five-episode season premiered in January 2014, followed by a 10-episode second season last November.

Probably the sponsors of the show.

I'd bet that once viewership drops off, the show will be canned.

Riddles? I am telling you right now, I have no use for anything Chicago, Illinois.

I liked some of the folks when I was there in Illinois years ago, but when I left, I left it all behind me. Nothing lost to return and retrieve, nothing left behind. Illinois has essentially nothing I stand in need of, so good luck with your lame leftist politicians.

You can apologize for calling me a prick. Or not, no matter.

I was insinuating that a person who would characterise another as a moron for what that person is enjoying in life.. Be it life in Chicago or a simple television program could be interpreted as an inconsiderate prick. That might have been harsh. I've always thought you a nice guy. I spend a fair amount of my life in the south. (Just drove north across the Illinois border this morning.)

I live where l grew up and near those I love. I wouldn't move for a better political climate. That's oxymoronic.

Apologies extended.

Pay attention: Lyn, I did not ever live in Chicago. I have traveled through and smelled it, not going back. I lived for a year in Urbana. Not a bad town. Good people.

Nobody really invited your comments about my leaving Chicago, other than your own temptation to step in the most rude way. I never said I was important up there, where you are, or even here in the town where I live now. I know where I stand in the world, do you?

You should be more concerned about who will notice your absence. Do you always stab your friends in the back as soon as you do not agree 100%?

I care what people think about me, but I am not willing to give up who I am, what I stand for to make them happy, or to appease their pride.

You say, "I am not willing to give up who I am, what I stand for to make them happy, or to appease their pride."

And yet you, all, are asking that of me?

I would never support someone who practices racism, misogyny, bigotry, unethical business practices, mockery of the disabled, sexual predation, has delusions of grandeur while suffering from a persecution complex, is a pathological liar and must always insult, demean, and belittle anyone who disagrees with him.

What ever happened to, "do unto others"? That philosophy does not seem to exist in the current Christian vocabulary, lest there could not be such zealous support for this man.

And to paraphrase a former president, The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it will long remember what he does here, and around the world.

His first few actions in office do not bode well, unless you are in the top 10% in wealth in this country. That leaves me to fend for myself. That leaves my grandchildren in danger.

Lyn - I doubt that the majority of voters is supporting his presidency based in the less than redeeming qualities you've pointed out. Touche'

Whether or not you agree. A lot of us believe change is needed in this country and people are grasping for whatever they can to achieve it.

Trump may have acted the fool in a lot of life's situations, but he isn't the murderous troll you make him out to be. Sure I'd prefer he exercised a little more eloquence when relating to others, but I wish that of all of us. Nobody want's you to change for the worse, but for the better. You can be gruff to the point of maddening when you respond to others viewpoints. I can only image your private life is effected negatively if you carry your hammer of hate in your everyday life the way you seem to here. Of course you are not alone, but as the Guru with the enormous post# you have been appointed the unofficial chief. Sure you're not alone in you willingness to bash others opinions. Many of us have been there.. Dare I say things have improved overall?

When any of us explode in anger we are really not improving our situation. Anger is the poorest way to support an argument. Trump gets a lot of leeway for a variety of reasons. One of them may be that people can (unfortunately) see a little bit of themselves or others they know and relate to. In reality there is little he's done or said that has not in one way or the other crossed the minds, lips, or lives of the general public. Your taking this 'holier than tho' stance and rattling your sabre is not in line with the "do onto others" lifestyle you would like to see of Trump.

Trump will (probably) survive the hell people will undoubtedly put him through. With so much opportunity to reflect it might just have a liiiiittle bit of a positive effect of him and others who don't see (or don't want to see) the harm in their actions.

I'm not going to defend his past transgressions, but I'm not going to bellyache for 4-8 years either. I'm going to seize every opportunity to do right under the new administration and remain hopeful that all of the protesting and fear are not ignored, but eventually dealt with using a fresh perspective.

The passion ignited in this country should empower all of us to see clearly, make the right decisions in personal and business life thus allowing us to forge better relationships with one another on a global scale.

Trump has unleashed all the pent up racism, Islamophobia, bigotry and misogyny that (mostly) men have harbored for hundreds of years. He has brought the ugly underbelly of hatred and despair to the top of the garbage heap and ridden it into the White House. His family and lifestyle will cost us BILLIONS in supporting him his family and friends not in the White House, but in his many hotels and golf courses while he makes a tidy profit as host.

His conflicts of interest are criminal, his hiring of family members and their access to privileged information, his ability to manipulate the stock market by billions of dollars with a single tweet has been demonstrated and will continue unchecked.

I, and many others believe that Congress is the real problem and until concrete TERM LIMIT, campaign spending and lobbying limits are enacted it will be business as usual.

Never ending political campaigns run by Congressmen who spend 50% of the 110 days they are in Washington raising money while staffers and lobbyists make the laws we have to live by is what we will have until they are all kicked out and we start over.

If we had an honest Congress, Trump could be muzzled. As it is he will run this country into poverty.

Call me an optimist, but I think the spotlight on his past behavior as well as numerous public events both peaceful and criminal that happen independently and worldwide do more to lift the veil and temper such behavior than to feed the manifestation of ignorance and intolerance that "mostly men have harbored for hundreds of years".

Call me a pessimist, but I strongly believe the rich would continue to get richer and congress would continue with business as usual regardless of who is in in office. If you're unhappy with the hands the are exchanging money then welcome to the world. It doesn't make it right, but it doesn't make it go away.

I just got back from a bike ride with my son. We stopped to lock our bikes and I asked him if he thought I should lock the front wheels with a cable even though there was clearly a camera nearby and we would only be a few minutes. He replied "Some people are dumb enough to rob a bank with no mask and they know there are cameras, so I don't think a camera would stop someone like that from stealing a wheel" what I'm saying is some people can be nuts without explanation. When that person .. or worse a group of those people get together spouting off. They do a lot to damage public perception, but then again.. they are nuts that maybe wouldn't rob a bank without a mask, but damage will be done.

A tweet to effect the stock market? It's a modern reality. It's almost like when the radio was invented. He's not alone in effecting the market and he's not the first. Let me know when a tweet becomes illegal.

Your predictions are so dire and full of negativity. It's as if there's not more than one way to skin a cat.

tolerance - do onto others

Trump has obscene power.

Imagine Trump, his cabinet and his kids sitting in his office and he says, " Call your brokers and tell them to buy Sprint now, then watch this"

On Tuesday, shares of Sprint jumped after Trump announced that Japan's SoftBank had committed to investing $50 billion in the United States, which could lead to 50,000 new jobs in the country. SoftBank has a majority ownership in Sprint.

Get the picture? Trump tweets and billions are won or lost.

Investors were not pleased with those comments. Shares of Pfizer fell 2.6 percent while Merckstock lost 1.9 percent this morning, The Associated Press reported.

He sent out a tweet slamming “out of control” costs from Boeing for a new Air Force One plane on Tuesday, which led to a quick but fleeting plunge in the aerospace company’s stock.

I remember when Reagen was elected, he was looked down on as a mere 'actor'. Yet he took counsel from many top level advisors and he did a good job. Trump has already take a number of good advisors on board, and he is not omnipotent - he still has both houses to contend with (with a Republican majority at this time). If he acts badly the midterms to limit him.

He is already more cautious in his utterances, so the stupid comments have ebbed away. Remember bread and circuses can happen here. We already see many cities like Chicago whose crooked politicians have agreed to wages and pensions far ahead of the tax paying average man, and Chicago CAN NOT PAY THEM, or it will collapse and the rest of the tax payers can no pay from their smaller wage base the salaries of the politicians, teachers, state and city employees that rule them

Or perhaps "good advisors" has a different meaning in Canada.

Your concept of Congress certainly is fictitious, if not downright laughable.

Trump is insane.

I would say something, but the moderators would most likely wipe it out.

Just imagine a great big middle finger pointing to the sky.

I want to you to stop teeing off on Trump, or it is going to start not being pleasant.

But in his inaugural address, Trump portrayed the United States as a nation in decline, using rhetoric that did not always match reality:

• Trump portrayed the U.S. as crime-ridden and promised to stop the “American carnage.” But the U.S. violent crime rate in 2015 was less than half what it was at its peak in 1991.

• Trump promised to “bring back our jobs.” Manufacturing jobs have been on the decline for decades, but Trump inherits an overall economy that has gained jobs for a record 75 straight months and has an unemployment rate well below the historical norm.

• He said he would “get our people off of welfare and back to work.” But the welfare rolls have declined under President Obama, and they have dropped precipitously since President Clinton signed legislation in 1996 instituting work requirements and time limits.

• Trump promised to “bring back our borders,” blaming past politicians for “refusing to defend our” border. But the U.S. Border Patrol budget has tripled since 2001, and the number of border patrol agents has doubled. Southwest border apprehensions have dropped 75% from the peak in fiscal 2000.

Crime ‘Carnage’

As he did so often on the campaign trail, Trump again painted a picture of a crime-ridden nation.

While Americans want “safe neighborhoods for their families,” Trump said, “for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists,” one in which “the crime and the gangs and the drugs … have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.”

“This American carnage stops right here and stops right now,” Trump said.

Although he spoke in general terms this time, Trump has often framed the issue by citing rising violent crime and murder rates — which focuses on a one-year uptick but ignores the long-term trend.

FBI data show the number of overall violent crimes in the U.S. increased by 3.9% from 2014 to 2015, and murder and nonnegligent manslaughter went up by 10.8%. While authorities are concerned about the one-year violent crime increase, as USA TODAY reported, the 2015 figure is still lower than in 2011, and 16.5% below the level nine years earlier.

As we have noted, the long-term trend nationwide is a decline, not only in murder rates, but for violent crime in general.

The violent crime rate has been on a decline since it peaked at 758.2 in 1991. It was less than half that, 372.6 in 2015. (The FBI describes its data as “estimated,” and it comes from the voluntary reports of local law enforcement agencies.)

I wonder how much of the uptick in violent crime is associated with fracking?

The haves and have nots go to war over anything.

I'd imagine the crime experienced is a new and frightening reality. This may be an older episode. Perhaps it's all under control and the reality is overblown by the media. Nat G ..Does it stand for National Gangsta'?

I doubt that the act of drilling the well and disposing of the 5 million gallons or so of polluted waste water, in and of itself, would have little impact on crime.

It's the riff raff that comes to do the drilling, truck driving, servicing and supply chain, along with the obvious problems that a huge infusion of men with too much money and no outlet brings to these locations.

Billions of dollars have poured into such places as the Bakken and other heretofore quiet relatively sane locations and that just has to bring lots more crime with it.

Don't look for any solutions to the crime problems or any abatement in fracking with the new big oil/coal/business friendly bunch of vultures in power now. I doubt that enlisting Russian hackers to help will solve this problem.

It probably has more to do with Chevy Cavaliers being driven by Hitler after being polished by Trump, and the tires waxed by Obama.

No this series is actually worse than the come-ons in the commercials.

I would rather watch a Scottish whaler (converted) going out to pick up walrus poop on the beaches of Greenland.

some of the more interesting bits of wood have been found along with coconut fibers.

dimensional pieces positioned in an organized way.

located bellow water level in a section of the ocean just off the beach that they damned off with 'yuge' water bags.
