China Questionable Practices

01/17/2017 7:04 AM

It appears that China has done it again.

A ring of 50 Chinese factories making fake, toxic brand name sauces has been discovered. The counterfeit foods stuffs labels are Nestles, Knorr and Lee Kum Kee.

With the rougher economic times ahead for China, China officials, do not want this type of press that would affect their world markets.

And considering the last time this happened, with toxic ingredient wheat gluten in their dog food. China demonstrated that the penalties are high as well an expedient trial and fast punishment that now the people involved has a fast and hasty exit plan out of the country.

Now, think about this for a moment. What is still running under the radar.

I digress,... every country pushing to become industrialized (or greed) have issues...

I recall in the 70's a place called Love Canal near Niagara Falls, NY. Originally it was a toxic waste site near a residential area, after it was filled to capacity, people were wondering what to do with it.

Then some one had a great idea to expand into it with a residential development. Its like a Chernobyl, only people are still stuck there.

Speculation is your specialty.

You bias never ceases to amaze me.

So lets digress further.

Here's something, Governmental agencies has been run by incompetent public servants. In your case, the EPA.

Lovely picture isn't it... thanks to the current EPA officials.

Instead of putting people in charge because of paying back favors to get them elected, put people in charge that can handle and mitigate issues.

So cry a river somewhere else. And stay with a topic you know little something about.

Or if you are willing to discuss it in a civil matter, we can take this to the break room, I'm open for it.

But to forewarn you, you'd better be prepared to defend your political platform and talking points.

Speculation

That should help.

Nothing on the King Mine of course... you ever stop and think that maybe the EPA needs an overhaul, or doing that doesn't fit your political talking points does it and prefer to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to it.

Or are you defending the EPA with what its responsible on the King Mine spill.

Because if you are, that sounds like a hypocrite, something you seem to be very familiar with.

No - not that state to the east - a little bit farther north - you know - Bill and Hillary territory.

Crazy about Texas - I'll say. Most folks I ran into when I lived there were convinced it was a separate country closely associated with the USA.

I am not fond of only two Arkabillies I know of, and you know which ones.

Actually, my Dad's side of the family was from Arkansas, but they climbed down out of the trees as soon as they became self aware, and went to Oklahoma.

So, since you came from Oklahoma, but by way of Arkansas, do you say:

Ar-Kansas or Ar-Kan-Saw?

I spent time in Oklahoma as well as Texas (oilfield) and I remember being told that the river in Oklahoma is the Ar-Kansas.

I think we mostly say Ar-Kan-Saw. I have heard that about their river, Ar-Kansas, that is. I wonder how it all comes about? Depends on which Yankee is saying that?

I know some things spoken in Texas, are best said with a smile. At least I was born here, so I am never far from home, even though Texas is the 2nd largest State.

One time a fellow from Arkansas came to Texas trying to sell the local plant manager on an idea - it was called a flash tank. The plant manager could not believe (the
Arkansas guy was pretty smart) that adding more water at the flash tank than the trickle specified would actually just make it harder to cool any waste water off down stream. It is however, true that the more water added to a flash tank - once you get off in hot water, just adding more to it means you are just into more hot water.

It has to do with not allowing the full flash-off of the boiler blows down to minimal (atmospheric) enthalpy.

No - I heard the pronunciation as AR-Kansas from Oklahoma natives. Of course it was in Tulsa, not Muskogee or Enid, so maybe that has something to do with it. Tulsa just seems to not quite fit in with the rest of the state.

Hey - those 2 are brilliant. Think about it. They come from the Baby Boomer generation, but very quickly picked up on the thought process of the Millennials. She was counting on them to carry her through to the White House. Not quite as into them as Bernie, but definitely enough to sway them to her, and they are becoming the force of the future at election time. (not saying I like them, but saying they are smart)

Kind of my thoughts too. What the heck does the corporate background of the post appointees have to do with counterfeit crap from China, and what in their background implies they'll look the other way instead of coming down on China like a ton of bricks if they try to send that stuff over here?

I don't see the tie in - really.

I think Trump has already posted threats against China that has them firing threats back already.

Hard to believe people could be so incompetent....

First off, there's a difference between incompetent and intentional and intentionally incompetent.

And for political aspect that was eluded to earlier, politicians tend to fall under intentionally incompetent.

For Love canal, people responsible knew what they were doing.

As I referred to in my earlier post. It seems every country goes through this in one point or another in their history.

And the ones responsible, the motto is 'Not in my back yard' mentality.

The love of money is the root of all evil.

"Should I defend you for who you are?
The laws are changed and useless!

On their way to a deserted town
Where empty windows wave goodbye
A helpless excuse, a falling reality
I'm changed by the shock
And the weight of the punch
A helpless excuse, a falling reality

Fragments of a futile being
A puzzle to the noble ones
Ignorant and pitiless they stride

The world around me -
Spartanic, minimalistic
A helpless excuse, a falling reality
The large scale plan that once where
You've now drained from life
A helpless excuse, a falling reality"-Anders Friden

As far as EPA causing the King Mine spill, That was just incompetence.

And Obama's EPA is using/changing WOTUS rules (Waters of the United States) to get themselves cleared.

In other words, they make themselves more powerful, yet unaccountable, which is pretty typical for governmental public service departments.

Sure, would report do on the EPA reason?

Such as the EPA claims they are not responsible for the pollution of the environment because they are not the ones that created the pollution, even tough they are the ones that broke the containment....

"

In a press release issued Friday, under the Federal Torts Claims Act, the EPA said it was conducting official business at the mine site when the spill occurred.

“Because the agency was conducting a site investigation at the Gold King Mine under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, the agency’s work is considered a ‘discretionary function’ under this law,” the EPA statement read. “Therefore, the circumstances surrounding the Gold King Mine incident unfortunately do not meet the conditions necessary to pay claims.”

And was responsible.

"The EPA’s decision to dismiss the claims comes after a ruling Wednesday night that the agency was protected from lawsuits by the Federal Tort Claims Act, under the discretionary function exclusion of the act, Packard said. "

Not being accountable for its own incompetent actions with the excuse, it was doing its job.

I didn't even get to the part with the department heads being able to walk away.

The EPA is needed, but it needs to be overhauled to make it effective and not a liability to the environment it's supposed to protect.

Like a lot of government programs that became bloated.

I won't stoop to name calling, just tell you that what you present to bolster your speculative claim bears no resemblance to your initial FALSE claim that "Obama's EPA is using/changing WOTUS rules (Waters of the United States) to get themselves cleared".

The actual facts, from your own source, is that "the agency was protected from lawsuits by the Federal Tort Claims Act", so you are not entitled to rewrite the facts to suit your distorted argument.

If the incoming administration did this, it would be hailed as good use of existing laws. But since it was the present, and quite superior, administration you cry foul where none exists..

We all know the real truth, you need to quit speculating and deal in facts!

I'll let the actions of the next 4 years speak for themselves.

I think that we can all agree that China has no moral compass.

I'll let the actions of the next 4 years speak for themselves.

No you're not.

The Clean Water Act does not distinguish between “polluters” and “responders,” and federal courts have rejected the argument that such a distinction exists. The federal government has criminally prosecuted private parties under the Clean Water Act for polluting bodies of water without a permit.

No one, however, has been held liable for the Environmental Protection Agency’s role in causing the 2015 Animas River spill. Representatives of the EPA have signaled a position of non-liability for responders. To encourage participation by private parties in cleanup efforts, both the EPA and the Department of Justice should publish their interpretations of federal law, and Congress should decide whether “responders,” including private parties, should be exempt from the Clean Water Act permit requirement or whether some standard of liability other than negligence should be required to prove their liability.

Congress should consider asking: “Why has nobody in the EPA been held liable for the Gold King Mine Spill?”

I am turning control of this thread back over to you. Bye.

Your wrong again,... I never lost control.

" can you back this statement up with any facts "

Have you ever noticed how often constituents like Lyn start every sentence with, " As a matter of fact ".

And he hates it when proven wrong... but, if it wasn't for lyn, where would the entertainment be.

Anyways he'll use the hardline left rags and thinks "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" and the like is a news program and use them as references. He has a hard time differentiating comedy and news.

Time, place , form and event, or don't bother posting....I could publish pictures of the "London Coal Fogs" , in the 1800's, place them in a modern Seattle setting, and the Liberal Public would would lap it up.....

One person has been killed and nine injured after an explosion at a chemical plant in China's eastern Shandong province, state media report.

No worries there is more where they came from. No OSHA,EPA or lawyers to deal with.

Interesting turn with China bashing.

But eventually things will correct themselves. For China to become a more competitive force, they will make corrections.

Now their just proving that they can create.

Chinese food practices coming to a Walmart near you.

A Chinese STATE OWNED company bought America's largest meat processing company in 2013.

This is a company that even though it's state owned has had multiple prosecutions for every kind of hygiene malpractice imaginable in China including fake products disguised as more expensive items.

Think they're going to mend their ways now they have a stranglehold on meat products in both China and the US?

The word, " Stranglehold " is a bit excessive,,don't ya think

You make it sound like Smithfield is the ONLY meat producer in the U.S.

Besides, we will only have to worry when the label says,,

USDA Inspected by Chinese inspectors.

Bottom line, it's a lot cheaper to copy than it is to create.

So they are making my dog sick (or were)? I don't eat anything made in China already.

If I knew my dog food was made anywhere but Oklahoma (according to the Purina commercial), after I was told Oklahoma, I would be looking for my heeling rope and a nice, sturdy branch to hang some sucker from. My wife, not so much.

My dog is important, I do not relish replacing him. Wives can be bought.

The problem is the ingredients, the majority or the base material was probably made in your area. but the adders such as wheat gluten can come from anywhere.

Where gluten is added as a binder.

Wheat gluten is poison to someone with celiac disease (gluten allergy). Especially when the "food" ingredient is not listed on the label as such, but is listed as "filler" or "binder".

Try living on a leash to the bathroom for a while, and see how you like it (I am speaking on behalf of my wife who suffers from this disease, and I in turn suffer in support of her on a daily basis.

Don't fry the messenger...

(I am speaking on behalf of my wife who suffers from this disease, and I in turn suffer in support of her on a daily basis.

Misery loves company..

and that is why there's a market for a gluten free product, only to be replaced with some other filler/binder

They need to work on the gluten free crackers. (texture)

We have a rescue dachshund, he has bad hips,.. as much pain as he was in (bad lower back) he's a happy dog. my girlfriend actually thought about putting him down because the last episode we didn't think he would recover, I mentioned to take him to a dog chiropractor (never thought I's say that).

he showed an immediate recovery, and after 3-4 $e$$ion$. he was back to normal (biting me). little peckerwud

The vet said to get gluten free dog food, which we've been doing for about 2 years, and no indication of it reoccurring.

He's a Texas dog, We were worried when we brought him to Wisconsin about the snow and cold.

(Being a rescue dog with 7 different owners that abused him as well as having him mixed with larger dogs that mistreated him, He had little hair with scars on his back and his ears looked like tattered old wash rags).

Had to take him to the vet twice to get his teeth pulled because they were infected.

Not much for teeth in the front.

He took to winter like a bunny. Watching him leaping in the 12" of fresh snow was like watching a sea monster swimming. It was difficult to get him back inside. But now he's getting arthritis so its a little easier,... but not much.

But he does look like a dog from Dr. Suess, rather comical.

I think it's hilarious. He bonds to my girlfriend and I couldn't figure out, what this little turd when he would be happy to see me, loves it when I take him for a walk or play with him outside, but after 8PM, he doesn't want me to even pet him he nip at me, but he'd get right next to me in bed (for warmth)... maybe he remembers it was me that took him to the dentist the last time to have his bad teeth pulled.

The little fella has very few front teeth left.

Oh, trust me, he remembers a lot, about you, about her, and about who he thinks is alpha.

If he thinks he is alpha, guess what, he will nip you "when you are outta line".

You just have to love the little guy, but be assertive.

Re: China Questionable Practices

I always figured he thought he was alpha.. considering how he was abused it didn't matter to me, as long as he behaved.

The hardest was House training him. He was 7 when we got him and was not House broken.

And now he'll wake us up to let him out. With very few times being a false alarm where he'll just wake us up to go down stairs when all he wants is to play with him.

we have wild rabbits running around and they (we also have a miniature pincher) love chasing them.
