A small blower might do it?

Could you use a screw drive instead?

Pumping IS A MISLEADING TERM. YOU MEAN LIFTING?

Then a plain screw conveyor or a bucket conveyor.

Might try a Tesla pump.

Volume was not stated or the type of source feeding the pump.

Are we talking wet, dry, dust an issue?

Does the output have any constraints like going through a 3 inch pipe?

To many options without more data.

The Archimedes screw needs to be designed that even the largest piece is either chopped up at the screw or that it passes between the turns.......

3" is larger than most Pellet feeders for Ovens, but right in the money for pellet heating systems......

Do not also forget, animal feed pellet systems, which can get really large when needed....

Are your charcoal particles suspended in a slurry, or are they dry? If they are suspended in a slurry, the best would be to use a pneumatic diaphragm pump. If they are in solid form, then bucket or screw conveyors would be better.

As carbon is abrasive, and very light. You may look at using compressed air, or a blower of some type. this would save in pump problems and upkeep

If you look at a modern wood chip burner, they use a sort of Archimedes screw arrangement that works brilliantly, in spite of the hardness of the chips.

Easily to buy from a Stove manufacturer, and easy to control with just one electric motor.

If that is not big enough, use more than one or design yourself a big one!!!

You neglected to mention quantities and weights etc..

An Archimedes screw was the first thing to come to my mind too. Simple, reliable. A conveyor or bucket conveyor could also do the job if preferred for some reason.

This is the most agreement I've seen in any responses on CR4 :)

I bought a Pellets Oven last year, and I am not only impressed in the way that most manufacturers have standardised on the screw principle, but on its quietness and efficiency too.....

Pellet Ovens are fantastic and as in Germany, it would appear that the law might require soon that each old house goes over to at least 10% of its energy needs to be met by renewable sources, new houses must start with 15%......

We are well in tune with that, last winter we probably achieved about 80% of our heating needs with slightly less than one ton of pellets.....it was a mild winter though......! Our gas usage was minimal.....mostly hot water and heating top up in our lounge only, where the pellets oven's warm air cannot reach...

I also have programmable thermostats so that rooms are not heated when not in use, but are still protected from frost. But even with the heating off, and a very cold winter, we still see 10-12°C just from the warm "bodies".....warmth from the fridge etc..

House insulation is already relatively good, but will be dramatically improved in September too.....good for winter & summer.
