If it remained metallic once the pressure was removed, they didn't say. If requires pressure to remain metallic, then the anvil cell and its press would be gone too.

This story sounds really fishy.

It's in my shop someplace.

Everything that that has ever been lost is in my shop someplace.

Your shop must be connected via some trans-dimensional portal to the bottom of my girlfriend's purse.

If you happen to find a half-karat diamond earring in your shop, let me know.

Call Ren and Stimpy - if they could find all the missing left socks, they can find it for you.

I know it!!! Seems like it would not have that sort of problem (only in Jupiter or on Sirius B).

Uses of such discoveries spend lots of energy to be stable. Once you get out of the realm of the normal/ground state (pressure, temperature), believe me, it will cost some bucks.

It will come again to cost and benefit ratio. If it costs much, it's better to disregard.

Could someone here offer an explanation ( how it works, how it is used and how it is made ) & show an image of a Diamond Vice

I have never seen a diamond vice.

I went to Google, but could not find information.

Thanks.

The whole De Beers organization might be thought of as a diamond vice. A diamond vise would be something else, if that's what you mean.

Tornado: as you can see in the third paragraph, the article mentions a, " Diamond Vice ". Whereas in a following paragraph the article mentions a " Diamond Cell ".

Andrew was kind enough to present an image of a, " Diamond Cell ".

If you would like to be kind enough too, you can present an image of an, " Diamond Vice ".

I don't believe there was anything in my question that can be construed as a reference to any precious gem consortium.

The word "vice" was sufficient to do that job.

For another example of diamond vice, check out the whole conflict diamond situation in western Africa.

Diamond anvil cell. There are lots of variations, but all around the same theme.

Some are fairly small and apply pressure along only one axis ...

Diamond anvil cell, magnified.

-----

... and some are quite large and apply pressure along three orthogonal axes:
