Namur is the name given for the type of signal output level for a sensor. It is meant for high impedance output in some cases and hence leakage current may destroy the signal or may alter it.

High current output like 4-20mA is more safer.

Refer to the sensor output voltage level and guide lines to use the Namur signal. You need an amplifier with about 25kOhms input impedance to buffer the signal at receiving end and perhaps a comparator with hysteresis to remove the noise level to use such signals.

Sensor - What is (a) Namur sensor

"Namur" is a German acronym for (Normenarbeitsgemeinschaft für Mess- und Regeltechnik in der Chemischen Industrie)

This translates to (standard working group for measuring and automatic control in the chemical industry)

Found on another Web search for the same information.

A NAMUR sensor would therefore be designed in accordance with the criteria set forth by the standards group
