Firefox Not Playing with Norton, YouTube, Yahoo, etc.

07/01/2017 5:43 PM

Does anyone know about this, and what to do?

I get these Firefox massages about other sites' security certificates not being correct, and I see examples from other CR4 members. I can understand Yahoo being on the outs because of recent security breaches, but Norton/Symantec?

Are other browsers doing better?

I use Firefox. I always wait a log time before I download their (or any company's) latest updates. I'm willing to wait and let other people be the guinea pig for software updates. Same with the ios updates for my phone. Btw, my Firefox is version 53.0.3.

I don't have any trouble with Firefox and YouTube or Yahoo. I don't use Norton.

Obvious question: Have you done a complete shutdown and reboot lately? The few times I have had issues with Firefox and other software, a complete shutdown has usually fixed the problem.

I sometimes get the same message when trying to access my Lloyds Bank account via Internet Explorer on my regular computer. But only sometimes. What the hell is that about? I just ignore them and get on with my life as normal. What else can you do?

You have a good malware prevention program?

Does anyone on here use whitelist antispyware such as pcmatic?

My wife always whines about "don't ever use pcmatic, because you cannot get rid of it"... I have never tried to use.

I hate Norton, and McAfee. She will clog up her haplesstops (started out being laptops) with various free antimalware programs that all attack each other, and blame the whole slow computer thing on our router, or on the ISP.

I only have Microsoft 'Security Essentials.' McAfee proved to be useless on my Dell, allowing a virus in some years back and preventing my computer from even starting. Later, after another virus, a computer guru removed Norton for me saying it was also useless, substituting Windows 'Defender' instead, which seems to have become 'Security Essentials.' Never had a virus since. Touch wood.

On a Mac, MalwareBytes seems to be the best at the moment. I've used it successfully on quite a few Macs. I know nothing on/about PCs.

Have used Malwarebytes and it is good. Also John Wick is highly recommended against Baba Yaga computer attacks. Tracks it back to the source, and it goes {boom}.

I use Firefox [currently 54.0 (64bit)] on a Mac, and have not had that problem.

Have you ever tried PaleMoon? I think it is pretty good, also.

Less familiar to the hackers than Microsoft IE, or Mozilla Firefox, but I think it is still a Mozilla product. Stacks up pretty well as browser engine.
