And if you want to tip the driver, grab your gas can and add a gallon to the tank.

How does the pizza get from the car to my front door?

That's in the next iteration. If you hold your door open, a drone flies it from the car to your dinner table.

Just a little large vehicle and they could cram in an oven, slicer, freezer, etc, necessary to also get rid of that blue and red trimmed box behind the car. There would just be autonomous pizza bots waiting in busy neighborhoods.

How long until multiple services shed their buildings along with employees and just roam and lurk waiting for those calls?

how is that thing supposed to ring the door bell? Our gate is too narrow for that, and BTW stay off the doggone grass!

+ = autonomous pizza. Refuels enroute, and fertilizes your lawn at the moment of delivery.

Ford and Domino's say they are testing this technology out on a college campus. Smart idea, no? I can remember delivery drivers getting confused trying to find our dorm room when we ordered food, especially when all the residence halls looked the same.

Check it out.

on a similar flow... they,... (They as in Europe I believe) came out with a Pizza Vending machine that's basically made the way you want.

I just wonder how the taste and texture is... Having designed a high volume pizza oven, Cooking Pizza is a science. There are meats that need to be cooked at a higher temperature to ensure its cooked thoroughly, there are even issues using precooked meats... while the are cheeses are temperature sensitive and the vegetables you have to be concern about that the cells rupturing and getting your pizza sogging with extra moisture, and the steam then acting like a vapor insulating barrier, Usually solved with a convection oven with a fan or air impingement, but that leaves other issues with cleaniness.

Not to mention the sanitary issues with the sauce application or the sauce or cheese spitting as it cooks.

Re: Autonomous Pizza

I agree, but I may be bias...when we were like 8-9 years old, my sister got a kids pizza oven... power by a light bulb, came with ingredients you mix, flour, pizza sauces and meat-like stuff?.

I think the ingredient went bad, we threw it out.... she never used it since... so I commandeered it and used it as a heater for my fright factory because my oven that came with it burned out....

I wish that they'd had come with a first aid burn kit. I could have used it.

Re: Autonomous Pizza

It takes me about 15 minutes and $5 to make two large thin crust pizza from scratch.

Toss them in the oven one at a time for about 7 minutes while cleaning up and I have the freshest pizza the way I like it.

I don't measure anything.

Technique available if interested

lucky you. I am just glad our Pizza Hut is in Lubbock and not in Houston. I hate soggy thin crust. There used to be this place out in Las Cruces, NM near NMSU, that had the world's best pan-style Sicilian Pizza I have ever had. Although, I have to admit Stromboli from Oyster Bay, NY is mighty good.

Comparing notes;

The Pizza Hut in our area, I loved the Hand tossed Meat Lovers. But their quality took a dive and in 18 months they closed.... I get Papa Johns now... love the garlic sauce and pepper that comes with it. Girlfriend gets it from a local pizzeria, when she's ordering it....

Back on topic... now that Dominos are looking at driverless delivery cars,... I wonder if they're going to bring back the "you get it in a half hour or less, or its yours free" promotion. Then I'm ordering Dominos. Especially right before the Green Bay Packers game when they play.

I can see this driverless car rolling at a high rate of speed ( all of 5 mph so far) down my street. Heck the pizza would have penicillium mold growing on it by the time we got it.

Pizza anyone?:

This is our new antibiotic pizza, cures everything from pneumonia to syphilis.

Hey bLimey! It is an inside joke, OK? Cowboys - Dallas, Texas football team in the NFL.

Cheeseheads - Green Bay Packers AFL football league team fans, and personal body-guards.

I think Germans dig all things Western, such as glitzy Western wear, Slim Whitman albums, and square dancing. We moved from two-dimensions to one dimension in Texas a while back with the introduction of...wait for it....line dancing.

Except I did not hit the play button. Hey these days, I cheer every time ANY team scores on Dallas. I wish "Skeletor" (J.J.) would sell out and move back to Arkansas.

I never did like that "person". I hate even more how he treated Tom Landry, and others down through the years. Just another fine example of people in the generations from 5-10 years older than me, that I absolutely detest with a white hot blazing passion! Their generation seems to be where America went off the rails, sorry, but I think so.

I know I must be spoiled in Chicago because I can count the number of times I've been to a Pizza Hut, Pappa Johns, or Domino's on One hand. Even out of town I avoid them at all cost.

Growing up It seemed like there was cheap slices larger than than the paper plate with flies and a can of pop for $1.99 or less on every other corner.

These days I complain that the deals are harder to come by, but every neighborhood has one or two excellent options.

Years ago before Little Sleazers started making their pizza for $5 and was actually worth eating I consumed my body weight in the stuff if only for the proximity to where I grew up.

This is a very popular place for delivery.. , but I carry out a slice of their deep dish all the time. No those aren't miniature ingredients.

"I know I must be spoiled in Chicago because I can count the number of times I've been to a Pizza Hut, Pappa Johns, or Domino's on One hand. Even out of town I avoid them at all cost."

Yup, we Chicagoans are spoiled for choice when it comes to the Pizza. But there are some important rules:

  • If it's Deep Dish, or Pan Pizza the sauce goes on TOP.
  • If it's thin crust, the crust must be light and crispy, it must NOT be able to be folded like those half-baked New York abominations.

Then again, we Chicagoans always have long-standing traditions with food; a good Italian Beef must have bread ready to fall apart from being dipped in the juice; the BEST Italian Beef is always that sandwich shop right in the neighborhood you grew up in. Arguing over which place REALLY has the best Beef in town can lead to scuffles, and this is okay as long as nobody pulls a weapon, and it gets broken up after a moment (usually with both sides agreeing to disagree, and burying the proverbial hatchet by going to the local pizza parlor to break bread together); and NO sane person puts ketchup/catsup on a hot dog.

You mean people actually have been observed putting ketchup on a hot dog? Sacre' bleu!

I like grilled onions, mustard, and a little sweet relish on mine. I don't like just a cheap dog from the wrong part of the cold cut display. Give me a bratwurst, or go home.

Pretty much. A couple of us were starving and while the provided pizzas were tasty and proper.. the service was lacking. The thin crust woke up our appetite and Instead of dealing with the lack of VIP treatment we hightailed it out of there and got the requisite deep slices to go elsewhere.

Mmgood..

A first world problem by definition

I like to squawk at anything new, until some other (insert moron here) has tried it out first. Disclaimer: I am actually not a moron, but Wifey has decided this is my "new" name.
