The human nervous system carries considerable energy. Mine nervous system seems so juiced that, I cannot sign most credit card readers they refuse to work. Also some radios become filled with static and noise when I am near?

Wish I could bottle the stuff and sell it.

I'm a big fan of International Rectifier's power MOSFETs. You can control huge voltages and currents with a tiny input.

Ditto!

I like to use them in linear mode,

in open loop audio amplifiers.

They yield a very smooth tube like sound

without all of the tube hassles.

Zetex also makes some nice devices.

Battery powered hand tools

New 18 volt batteries last long and make real work possible

Extended life cellphone batteries that last a full week are a great advance

I think I like truly functional battery powered devices in general

My favourite power electronic device is VSD (variable speed drives) for induction motors:

  1. Scaler control-based type.
  2. Vector control-based type.
  3. Direct torque control-based type.

A CD player with a nice power amp. What would the world be without sound? (or noise when considering some type of "music")

My flux capacitor is the 2007 model. Don't forget the 1.21 Jigawatt version came out in the 1980's.

The first power tool to hand is usually a small, 9.2V Bosch battery drill with electronic variable speed control and five ratchet-torque settings (other battery hand tools are available). This magnificant machine will run a sharp 25mm spade wood bit through 100mm of softwood in less than 30 seconds and still ask for more punishment.

During the weekend it was persuaded to send a 6mm twist drill bit through the mild steel stud holding the catalytic converter coupling to the first exhaust box under a Vauxhall Astra with only 1 change of battery halfway. The bruises will heal later in the week.......
