how {works / put } a timer in a gas stove -

A piece of string is about the best option -

Hang a bell on a piece of string in the oven. your meal should be ready when the string is burned and the bell goes ting-ting-thud.

A clockwork timer would be better.

My better half uses a nine volt battery operated type that beeps VERY loudly. It works very well, though I think it bothers the neighbors.

Pay no attention to those silly rabbles!

It counts down seconds, or years when your really hungry.

In the absence of a timer, a smoke detector can be used.

Dishes so prepared are not "Cordon Bleu", more "cordoned off".

That's a good way of cooking... wait til it's burnt and then go back a tad.

Many Gas stoves also have electricity for the igniter's, timers, and control.

Some timers can be spring loaded (like the old egg timers)

It is also possible to control the gas using pneumatic logic control devices.

For example see; http://www.crouzet-usa.com/catalog/_timercomp.shtml

Put food in gas stove. snap your finger , take a deep breadth and snap finger again = 1 sec. Do 60 times = 1 min. Forget to breath or snap finger, start all over again. If food burns and smoke coming out- you missed a snap or a a breath.
