i think you are looking for sizing of transformer, if so then nascon having the answer in one of our previous discussion under transformer sizing.

Every transformer starts with 3 basic questions: What frequency will it be running at (which determines the material), How much power do you need (determines size and geometry limitations), & topology (what type of circuit is it in; linear 50/60Hz power, flyback, etc.)

Wikipedia has an OK primer under transformers. Otherwise, you can do a web search for magnetic core suppliers and almost all of them have tutorials on their websites.

Not sure to be honest - sorry for the sarcasm - its too early on a Monday morning to be stretching my brain too much.

I forgot to recommend a few book authors: anything from McLyman, Grossner, or Flanagan. McLyman, who used to work for JPL, will take you step by step, but there are 4 volumes to choose from. Grossner is out of print, but an excellent resource. Flanagan is fairly simplistic, but a good place to start. Still, I would recommend that you clarify:

What Power Level? What Frequency? What type of circuit/topology?
