Ask them directly?

I don't think am understanding your question, perhaps you could rephrase it, or add some details?

If you don't need a formalized, traceable RFQ system, pick up the phone, call the vendor, ask for sales, and tell the nice person that wants your money exactly what you're looking for. Promise large quantities on short time frames and they'll get you a price before lunch. (Tongue firmly in cheek for that last bit, but you get the idea.)

A phone call should be enough. Sales is their business.

Buyers also has a responsibility to plan and contact suppliers and leave them with enough time to manufacture or obtain the material.

You have to put yourselves in the shoes of the supplier. Would you delay delivery to a regular customer to help somebody who did not plan properly?

A last thought: A supplier may have to load prices to allow for paying overtime to accommodate late urgent orders.

A procurement engineer / officer may not be as glamorous as the designer but is a vital part of any setup.

Apologies if your case is not due to a oversight on your side.

Maybe Nosco means via globalspec? If so you can follow the manufacturers name linked to their website or sometimes directly to the button "obtain a quote".

Does this answer your question?

My recent experience (last two or three days) indicates that emails through GlobalSpec get much faster results than direct phone calls!

I found that even just visiting their website through globalspec causes a stirr in the sales depertments. They have contacted me before through my normal e-mail address that is held in globalspec registration after I just browsed their website through a link on globalspec. I cannot remember I asked them anything but was quite impressed.

Most of manufacturers or distributors can fax or email you directly by request , or see for there website for services and prices , most manufacturers specially from china do give all prices in variables on quantity directly on there respective sites....all these are fastest
