CR4 Feature: More "Good Answer" Visibility

Do you have any figures on how often ratings have been used (up to now)? Do you think this will make a difference?

Hi Mark,

Just went onto the Electrostatic Precipitator thread (14543). That green bar is a bit violent! (he understated). When my headache cuts in (in the morning) I'll probably have to abandon CR4 for a while, least I stumble onto a popular thread.

Any chance you could tone it down a bit, please?

Yeah, no one else here had a chance to proof the color for that thing, and it was rather garish. Anyway, I toned it down.

I just tried to give Kris 2 good answers rating but it told me off as you are not allowed. Some other person needs to give Kris good votes so we can see what happens. Please? anybody

Ah, you are in the wrong place... you must be using the "Rate This" link above the thread itself... this is the only place you can select the number of stars (and sure enough, this thread now has a four-star rating, so thanks for that!)

The place to rate a comment is just below the common body, and you can only vote "once". (Ok, you can cast more than one vote but the last one will replace your other votes, and the accounting will be correct.)

What I have noticed when posting a new discussion is that there is now an extensive check list for you to read which, hopefully, prompts the user to omit silly things such as duplicates and homework questions.

I dunno if that is also to do with this "improvement" but an improvement it sure is.

I just gave you a 'Good', then tried another (which didn't work), then took it away with an 'Off-topic' (which worked), then put it back again with a 'Good'.

I think it worked - you should have at least one 'Good Answer' vote there.

It takes 2 "good answer" votes to officially make a comment a "good answer". It takes 3 "off-topic" votes to make a comment off-topic (and so collapsed by default).

This is becoming more and more interesting.

It's an encouragement for us to post the best answer(s) we could think about based on our knowledge and experience about the question being asked or the topic being discussed.
