This could be very trippy depending on video content....what would you recommend for video content? Do you think Las Vegas developers are in denial about running out of water there?
..." It's estimated that Vegas gets up to 90 percent of its water from Lake Mead, courtesy of the mighty Colorado River. It stretches from its snowmelt source in the Rocky Mountains and winds its way through seven US states including Nevada, before eventually arriving at its mouth in Mexico's Gulf of California."...Nov 17, 2020
Experts say it may never be full again. Lake Mead is now at 36 percent capacity — a number that will continue to fall as the reservoir's rapid decline continues to outpace projections from just a few months earlier. Water levels are projected to drop another 20 feet by 2022.Jun 17, 2021
Don't worry. When the polar ice melts, we'll have plenty of water. Oh, that's right, you don't believe the oceans are rising. Good luck denying that the Earth is not warming.
You and Autobroker seem to have re-made the site to your own liking.
It appears that we may need a psychologist to sooth all of Autobroker's mental dilemmas.
You, on the other hand have become the CR4 teacher, ref, the thread where you ask, "what can we learn from this?" The only thing missing is the "boys and girls" at the end.
Keep up the good work! Keep bringing us these riveting ENGINERING issues.
Well I can't speak to the other touchy feely crap, but the MSG sphere is certainly an awesome engineering accomplishment....I think Back-to-the-Future would be staggering in super hi-def surround video...You should stay home though, every time you stick your nose out of the house you get the covid again....glad to see your sitting up and spitting vile rhetoric again...lol

Lynn, I appreciate that you have something to share with the class, but you need to raise your hand first and wait to be called on...M'kay....now getting the covid again is nothing to be ashamed about...M'kay

I'm amazed that investors are willing to put up the money. There is some serious ka-ching going into this thing. But then again, over-the-top has proven to be a money-maker in Vegas, so I suppose it's a good bet. Vegas holds no allure for me so I am not the market segment they are aiming at.
Well then again if they are calculating a 10 year payback, then I would bet they would be ok....but it's still a gamble...I heard they are planning a water pipeline from the Gulf of California...I guess a desalination plant would be necessary...

I heard(on the "net",from undisclosed sources,of course),that they were drilling a
tunnel from the great lakes to California, with tap offs along the way.
They have put hundreds of tunneling machines along the path, tunneling towards
each other.
A billion here,a billion there, pretty soon you are talking big money.
Besides,it is always "other peoples' money"
Eventually, the great lakes will be drained dry, then we will be dependent on water
from Lake Baikal Russia.
It has more water than all of the great lakes combined.
They will use the dirt removed from the tunnel to bring New Orleans above sea level.
But you know how rumors spread on the 'net.
They are going to remove all the alligators from Louisiana and Florida and put them in the Rio Grand to decrease illegal border crossing.
"Gotta be true,I heard it on the 'net".

Maybe they could start mining ice from the arctic....I heard alligators don't like Mexican food...we would be happy to donate some Python snakes though...Why don't we stop killing dogs and ship them to the border for release until there are wild dog packs all along the border....what could go wrong?

Why not hook 1000+(or more ) ocean-going tugs, plus inflatable sails to a large iceberg, like the one that recently broke off from Antarctica..many billions of dollars of fresh water there.

For defending property,I would rather have 50 well trained Chihuahuas than a couple of large dogs.
Imagine a pack of 50 of these ankle biters going for your throat and legs?
Like land dwelling piranha.

According to Buckminster Fuller,if the sphere is 5 miles or more,it will actually
float, using ordinary building materials, due to the temperature difference of
inside/outside air.
It would be self ventilating with vents near the bottom.
A sphere has an unusual heat flow pattern that creates a strong updraft on the outside.
Anyone is welcome to do the math on this if they want to.
Not I;I am sleepy, going to bed.

Grand vistas, movement, big machines have the most impact on large scale cinema formats. Interior scenes, comedy and drama gain nothing by making them bigger. I have attended two IMAX screenings at Toronto's Cinesphere (large, but small compared to this). "North of Superior", which featured spectacular footage of that rugged landscape, was amazing on that large screen. I don't even remember what I saw on my second visit. I only remember that it lacked the grand vista/spectacle qualities necessary to make a large scale format work. Classic films like Ben Hur (the chariot race!), and 2001: A Space Odyssey would be nonpareil in the Las Vegas venue.
