12/12/2007 8:54 AM

Where can I find an infrared temperature sensor which can give a voltage output.

I am only finding makes with current output.

Thanks!

Why? What's wrong with current?

I've always worked with current. Why will it NOT work for your application?

Because my weld power supply has analog inputs that take 10 VDC or 5VDC.

You can easily convert current to voltage by using a resistor.

Connect the resistor across your voltage inputs and wire your sensor's current output to it. If your sensor's output is 4-20mA, a 500Ω resistor will give you 2-10Vdc and a 250Ω resistor will give you 1-5Vdc.

Check out Thermatool's new Weld Scan system it is a stand alone unit you can intregrate back to the welder to look at the heat. It's really a nice device.

I think all 4-20ma output from these instruments put out 1-5dc? Ask Eagle Instruments.

Hmmm:

Are you speaking of a remote IR sensor of the charge coupled device type?

I think you are hosed, if so: unless you wanted to change the "I" to a "V"

thru circuitry.

There ARE some other types that will give you a V output (like thermocouples),

but??? say more about your apparatus, please.
