Fun Quiz

12/30/2007 6:39 AM

At this time of year much of the UK media engages in silly quiz's. There is one set by The Times (29th December) that is available on-line here ; www.qi.com/eqiuz

Members might like to spend a few moments testing their search skills. It all ends with three tie-breaker questions, so I'm quite happy to share any answers I can come up with. I'm not going to reproduces the 18 Questions, but so far my answers are;

3 - Enchinacea

4 - Earwig

5 - England's

7 - Edison

10 - Chartres

11 - Englebert

13 - Elephant

15 - Eritrea

17 - Eton

Anyone interested in wasting a few minutes post here ! The tie-breaker questions give real scope for triviality. It's possible to check answers with the quiz hosts web-site, though I haven't done so yet. Seeing who can research best is fun enough for me.

But I like arguing ! Sometimes I'll spend an hour in front of a mirror if I have to. No day is complete without an argument. Enviroman is being devious by posting a quote that most people get wrong.

I want to know what Nelson actually said when he pegged it. Did he have the hots for Hardy or was he simply philosophising about fate ?

I do jest, but it's fun to entertain GM and the rest. What do you reckon Nelson said ? Good job he didn't ask for Roger the Cabin boy. "Captain Pugwash" is often misquoted, or at last certain characters never existed. I won't go that place (Mr Staines was never in it) , but google the thing and you'll see what I mean.

Given the uncertainty of what the brain actually experiences leading into the moment of demise, it's near impossible to speculate on the meaning of "famous last words", other than taking them at face value. Captain Pugwash will have to wait (but I will deal with him later!), for I have actually to do work now, or they'll not provide me with this computer any longer. Or a desk to sit at either, I fear. And I do NOT desire those to be MY last words...
