professional engineer exam

i'm a newcomer and i'll take a PE exam this Feb in Malaysia. i have no idea to answer the questionere about this.."Disscuss the dilemma engineers face in balancing capital expenditure versus optimum design for efficient operations and maintenance. bearing in mind the impact of capital expenditure on the engineer's fees." someone can help me, please?

Hi Lina - A bit scared? I think you know enough to answer yourselves.

There would always be a struggle between the person that knows what need to be done and the one carrying the purse.

You could consider the cost of repairing or replacing under-designed structures against the original savings. Have a few worked out examples of bridges and structures that failed ready.

Also consider balancing the economic viability of the project (capital expenditure + running cost = value to the country).

CR4 is not a homework cheat site - nor is it the place to seek answers for specifc licensing exam questions. You need to research this information oin your own and understand why it is important. While some here might relish the opportunity to sharpen up old rusty skills by working the homework problem, consider this and consider it well. If you cheat on your homework by using someone else's answers, you are only cheating yourself, because the purpose of any homework or other college assignments is to help you learn, by practice, repetition, and self-discovery.
